resettle them there while he is happy to see them safe he still feels a twinge of anger at the Republic as the motion to provide relief Aid to them was postponed once again it got so bad it required several Jedi and clones to volunteer this is just one of the many issues that he's found with the Republic recently while he's no stranger to its corruption and incompetence this one hits differently as a former slave he can't help but feel a personal slight issues like this are why slavery persists on places like Tatooine as he holds supplies his frustration only grows as he promises himself to begin making changes while he initially made such a vow when he was a Jedi years of serving the Republic has made it clear that this is is n enough anymore if he wants to make a real change then he must make changes through politics when he returns to corusant Anakin surprise his Padme by asking to accompany her in political events like dinners and rallies he explains that he wishes to learn more about politics to better serve the Republic she happily agrees allowing Anakin to serve as her bodyguard during these events this also allows them to spend time with each other and when not on duty the two organize dinners attend balls or go to meetings where Anakin rubs elbows with powerful Senators Business Leaders and other respected figures it takes all of his willpower not to throttle them on sight Anakin immediately knows that these people are responsible for all the suffering he sees in the Galaxy but he keeps his cool thanks to Padme and forces himself to mingle amongst them thankfully being a war hero ensures they give him some respect and Anakin begins to forge connections with them letting him start to dip his toes in politics one project that both Padme and Anakin value is freeing the slaves in the outer rim although they dealt a crippling blow to the zerian Empire they still possess many slave colonies and Anakin wishes to liberate them he explains the potential in these places and how helping create free cities in these places might create trade and stimulate the economy they can even work with the locals to harness their resources and industrialize these areas many senators agree to this and Anakin offers to lead the expedition it takes plenty of favors and deals to get the Senators and Jedi council's approval but he does and leads the Expedition and the demoralized zarian forces don't hold against the Republic forces and are soon routed several planets soon fall under Republic control but to Anakin's disappointment the Senators do not follow padme's master plan rather than work with the locals they exploit them offering terrible loans to rebuild their homes and effectively leaving them destitute soon many of these people find themselves back in the same place as before Anakin is furious by this and is tempted to throw them out but is barely stopped by Padme however he finds his frustration is shared by others as well many reformist senators share Anakin sentiments as do the Clones who feel they are just fighting for the Rich's interests rather than winning the war Padme had spent weeks trying to Rally support among the Senator's reformist block she presents carefully laid out plans to industrialize the freed worlds emphasizing the economic benefits for the Republic many senators like Senator chuchi and mon mothma sympathize with her cause but progress remains slow the banking Clan and other influential interests exert pressure behind the scenes arguing that the Republic's resources were already stretched thin by the ongoing War others see investing in these newly liberated worlds now as an unnecessary expense even some of padme's St conscious allies urge compromise to padme's Growing frustration every credit allocated to Aid the outer rim came with strings attached the loans offered to liberate worlds were predatory Padme seized the cycle repeating itself the worlds that had barely escaped the Yoke of slavery were being plunged back into servitude this time under the Republic's economic policies despite her tireless advocacy the political Machinery moves slowly grinding hope into bureaucracy the though she never admits it Padme feels the weight of Anakin's disappointment each time she returns home with little to show for her efforts one day after walking Padme to another Senate meeting Anakin's surprised to find Palpatine waiting for him my boy you look troubled tell me what weighs so heavily on your mind everything the Senate the council all of it we free those people and what happens nothing we sacrifice soldiers equipment time for what to watch bureaucrats line their pockets While others suffer it is the curse of democracy Anakin too many voices too little resolve the will to act is strangled by the need to appease but there are ways to get things moving politics is not about do doing what is right if you want something done it's about leverage these Senators you speak of they will not act out of virtue they must be made to act how they barely have the spine to stand up to their fearce then give them no choice war is expensive Anakin equipment supplies and Manpower these things do not come freely especially when you're responsible for their protection remind these Senators that the planets they are enriching themselves from only came to be because you liberated them if they want their worlds rebuilt they must compensate your efforts you want me to make them pay for the Republic's losses precisely frame it as a matter of fairness after all they decided to support your campaign should they not pay their dues and as the acting sector Commander you can use that money as you see fit for security reasons and if they refuse the same thing that happens to any fool who gambles but cannot pay soon enough Anakin sends them a bill listing down all the expenses taken to liberate the planets and what is necessary to put his army back into full strength while some senators are shock Anakin reminds them that his army is protecting the entire sector and if he doesn't have the necessary resources some areas might be left vulnerable the underlying threat is more than enough to get Senators to pay up those who don't find themselves removed the results speak for themselves as Anakin soon finds himself flush with cash more money in a matter of weeks than Padme raised in months Anakin wastes no time in placing them where they are needed paying off Farmers debts freeing slaves and starting to invest in Industry as he originally planned Padme is less than impressed with this and warns Anakin about such underhanded tactics as they can subvert everything they are fighting for although Anakin is sympathetic he assures Padme that it's all for the greater good while this doesn't fully put the issue to rest it at least gives Anakin some time to focus on other matters Anakin realizes for his plans to survive he must continue Gathering more allies who will support his plans he he approaches several other senators and Business Leaders not part of the reformist faction letting them invest in his burgeoning worlds but not letting them have any control among these groups is the Techno Union which Anakin Taps to automate and industrialize the economies of these planets outside of the military Anakin also finds allies within the Clone Army as many commanders have grown increasingly frustrated with the Jedi and the Senate as they believe that they are now only fighting for their efforts instead of the Republic these clones eagerly join forces with Anakin as they know him as a respected General and his success in these slave colonies only increase his reputation soon Anakin gains considerable respect in the military as he manages to convince the high command to take small units from other Legions he claims that these are to reinforce his position but secretly deploys them along with Ahsoka in important sectors where they can make a difference even with only a small position in these areas and against smart tactics and careful deployment allow him to make a huge impact they win huge victories which Anakin publicizes to improve his reputation this leads others to question the other Jedi capabilities if Anakin can already make such a big difference with just a few clones imagine what he can do with the entire Army this leads to more and more troops being placed under Anakin's command with Palpatine's backing he begins to amass more power effectively becoming one of the main generals of the war effort the result is a far more effective but also more brutal war effort Anakin isn't shy about using harsher tactics to gain results he isn't afraid to bend the Jedi code to defeat his enemies and this shows while he wins many successes across the Galaxy it also raises some concerns about Anakin's growing influence and they try to curb his power this begins to drive a wedge between him and the Jedi as he views these efforts as being built off jealousy since they see his success as a threat to their power in response Anakin hunkers down in his captured worlds and operates essentially as a semi-independent warlord Anakin begins experimenting with governance using his influence in the military he creates strategies where clone Legions are located only in areas he prioritizes usually areas of importance where it benefits him Jedi commanders who share his vision or Express sympathy find their forces unexpectedly bolstered while those who challenge him or cling too tightly to the council's orders are left Stranded the same is true for corrupt Senators who are faced to do their job properly or risk being abandoned the fear of losing everything forces many senators into uneasy compliance funneling resources and funding toward Anakin's initiatives publicly they claim to support his efforts to stabilize the outer rim privately they curse his Growing Power but Anakin doesn't stop there recognizing the separatist council's Reliance on profit he makes overtures to its members to Chip Away its support he starts with the Techno Union and offers them lucrative deals to provide droids in his worlds allowing the Trade Federation to continue operating his systems and allowing the geonosians to set up factories away from CIS space provided they do not make any military equipment this slowly weakens their power as it provides Anakin with much needed leverage over them the Jedi Order watches these velopments with growing unease Anakin's actions strained the trust of the council everyone from his master Padawan men even Padme try to reason with him you're treading a dangerous path Anakin this isn't what the Jedi stand for there's a reason Jedi stay away from politics Master you should ask yourself why this isn't the path Anakin you're becoming everything we fought against but Anakin is having none of it and reminds them that he's making progress more progress in a few years years than they've made in a decade doing things their way he reminds them that the status quo gave them nothing as people remained in slavery the Republic remained corrupt and the war kept raging with no other way to answer they are dismissed and Anakin continues to govern his worlds he now only seems to answer to the chancellor and seems Untouchable but the Call Comes sooner than expected Asoka finds herself charged with the bombing of the Jedi Temple and while Anakin has no involvement having his Padawan being charged gives his enemies ammunition to portray Anakin as negligent or even suggesting he might be responsible but this isn't the inexperienced young Jedi who arrived in politics long ago this is now a seasoned politician and he uses this to his Advantage Anakin portrays this as a Witch Hunt and used by his enemies to challenge his success he portrays the Jedi as jealous of him and the Senators is corrupt the latter being true and the public knows it coupled with the uccess in governing The Battered remains of the zerian Empire and his success in the war effort ensures public opinion remains on his side this sentiment grows as Ahsoka is proven to be innocent and made even worse when Anakin is the one who proves it this is a huge blow to his enemies with Anakin painting himself as the defender of freedom and the weak against a corrupt government he initially goes on the attack and publicly denounces the Jedi saying that they have gotten attached to power and leaves the Jedi Order but but while he leaves Anakin instead is invited to serve in the military full-time as the Supreme Commander now without any ties to the Jedi Order Anakin is free to continue the war as he sees fit and further grows it to meet the Jedi's challenge Anakin began recruiting local forces in his territories and training them based on the Jedi Doctrine this group dubbed the Sentinels was created to act as a peacekeeping force they are charged with handling the relief efforts rebuilding recap Ed worlds and helping maintain the peace he claims that this is to help the efforts as the Jedi are too few and needed in the front lines effectively sidelining the Jedi in their main task but soon Anakin's Whispers of a shadowy figure manipulating the Republic begin to surface the rumored Sith Lord Darth cidus he's heard that name since the start of the war and at first dismisses it as nothing more than Jedi paranoia the order after all has shown nothing but mistrust but as his intelligence Network expands Anakin starts hearing the same name whispered among his spies and informants within the Jedi Council itself the pieces begin to fall into place the corruption of the Senate the slow degradation of the Republic the war dragging on with no clear end These Are Not Mere coincidences even as the government seems to grow more powerful the war does not seem to end though he still sees the Jedi as flawed and hypocritical he realizes they might be his best allies in uncovering the truth if the Jedi truly believe Darth cidus is hiding in the Senate you need me I have access to them no one else does you've already proven you're too close to the chancellor Skywalker and you've made your thoughts on the Jedi quite clear what caused this change of heart there is no change of heart I entered politics to end corruption and build a better Society the Sith Lord who started this war has no place in that Society Anakin we understand your position but you have to see it from our perspective trust is fragile right now I know you don't trust me but you don't have a better option I used influence to get close to the highest echelons without raising suspicion you need that if you want any chance of exposing cidus if you betray us even for a moment I won't I care nothing about this order but I will do what's best for the Galaxy fine but this is a delicate operation Skywalk walk ER will'll hold you to your word keep an eye on him I still don't trust him Anakin begins building his case against Palpatine in secret they begin to meet more often something that does not arouse much suspicion as Anakin is known to be one of Palpatine's Inner Circle but when they meet Anakin keeps his guard up monitoring the Chancellor's movements listening for hidden meanings in their conversations and keeping tabs on the Senate at the same time he plays the the part of a loyal Confidant continuing to bolster Palpatine's trust in him Anakin reinforces this trust as during one of their private meetings Anakin warns Palpatine of Whispers within the Jedi Order about a Sith Lord infiltrating the Senate Palpatine FS shock and concern but Anakin notices how pleased Palpatine is to hear this and his confirmation begins to grow further however Palpatine quickly changes the topic and directs it towards Anakin they dist TR everyone even their own it's only a matter of time before their fear drives them to act against you Anakin you've already seen their jealousy of your success Palpatine begins sewing deeper seeds of doubt in Anakin's mind playing on his frustrations within the Jedi Order at the same time Palpatine grows more insistent on drawing Anakin into his orbit he urges Anakin to turn against the Jedi completely showing him the flaws of their code and how they are the ones who've dragged the war on for so long Anakin recognizes the manipulation but allows Palpatine to believe his words are working each conversation brings him closer to confirming his suspicions about the Chancellor's true nature eventually the chancellor finally decides to reveal himself with an offer to create an empire together with Anakin as his Heir think about it my boy this Republic is doomed to collapse but we can rise from from its ashes and create something more with this Empire we can fix the Galaxy's problems together and Usher in an age of peace and security Anakin does not respond right away but instead says he needs time to think as soon as Anakin leaves he sends a secret signal to ma Wu telling him that he's found the Sith Lord and sends the coordinates mace orders Anakin to leave not trusting him to remain there which Anakin complies with he instead Waits outside as the Jedi Strike Team arrives and heads inside it is not long before the sound of lightsabers fill the air as the two sides Clash Anakin gets closer and tries to sense the changes in the room until he feels only two people left there he steps inside and sees mace pinning and driving him back Anin please help me he steps forward and draws his lightsaber glancing at the pair sensing the uncertainty in Anakin mace redoubles his efforts to try and defeat Palpatine as Anakin rushes to meet them mace snarls and blocks Palpatine's desperate lightning strikes and redirects it towards him the Sith Lord screams in pain as his body begins to crackle shaking and convulsing without a word Anakin drives his lightsaber into his chest you were more foolish than I thought Palpatine's eyes widen as the lightsaber drives into him and his body begins to melt into dust soon all the remains of the chancellor disappears into the wind but as mace steps back Anakin pulls his lightsaber out and drives it into his stomach Anakin for murdering the chancellor shortly after he heads to the Grand convocation chamber of the galactic Senate in Palpatine's Place leaving the Senators murmuring among themselves their voices Rising into a cacophony of confusion and worry the central Podium ascends and Anakin Skywalker steps into view my fellow Senators I come before you with grave news Supreme Chancellor Palpatine has been assassinated by the Jedi Order Master mace Wu acted against the chancellor claiming he was unfit to lead when I refused to join his treachery he turned on me I was forced to defend myself but when I arrived to help the chancellor I found that mace had already killed him the Jedi must be held accountable for their actions however I will not allow the mistake of one man to condemn an entire order only Master Wu acted in this treasonous capacity the Senators exchange uncertain glances Anakin straightens his expression Resolute as supreme commander of the Republic's forces I will assume Palpatine's duties until a new leader can be chosen I I swear to you that I will preserve the Republic's values and bring stability in this time of chaos a wave of Applause from the Senate hesitant at first then growing louder as his supporters all begin to join in pushing those neutral to the situation to join until the entire room is filled with Applause as Anakin returns home the weight of the Senate's Applause remains buzzing into his head but not enough to drown out the feeling that someone is watching him he activates the lights and finds Yoda standing before him his hands resting on his Cane Fallen far you have Skywalker I've done what I had to betrayal you see not different than Palpatine you are not power seek we balance we seek You The Chosen One were to bring it now bring ruin you may Don't lecture me Yoda I've saved the Republic I've made stronger I've done what none of you could the room Falls silent for a heartbeat as Yoda pulls his light saber from his belt the green blade igniting with a familiar hum Anakin's hand darts to his weapon his blue blade springing to life Yoda leaps forward his small frame a blur of motion as he swings at Anakin the Jedi barely catches his blade sending Sparks exploding in all directions Anakin steps back deflecting blow after blow and trying to slash back but but Yoda leaps aside and moves with careful Precision Anakin growls and tries to slash downward but Yoda sidesteps his attack and throws a few quick swings that Force Anakin to defend slipping over Anakin's head Yoda lands gracefully behind him Anakin pivots slamming his lightsaber downward Yoda meets the strike the blades locking but Anakin snarls and feels his anger Brewing as he steps forward trying to step closer and slowly begins to push Yoda back seeing this as a losing fight Yoda twists his wrists redirecting the blade and slipping free he spins aiming a strike at Anakin's side scoring a shallow blow but that only fuels Anakin's anger he tries to kick Yoda and then follows with a downward thrust as he reaches for furniture and begins to throw it at him Yoda acts quickly leaping over the obstacles and slashing them apart seeing him leaping over one table Anakin slashes at the wall and sends sparks flying in Yoda's eyes the master shrieks in Surprise and allows Anakin to kick him back he follows up by slamming his lightsaber down but Yoda barely rolls out of the way as he's moving through Anakin thrusts his other hand out and slams him against the wall you're too old Master too weak Yoda struggles to his feet but the determination is clear in his eyes he raises his hand and Anakin feels himself lifted off the ground the force tightening around him like a vice Anakin grits his teeth countering with his own Force push the two Powers Collide the air between them Rippling with energy the standoff ends as both combats disengage rushing toward each other for a final exchange they both slash as they run before coming to a halt Anakin takes a deep breath as Yoda gasps a gash opening in his chest before dropping to the ground with Yoda defeated the Jedi are left in chaos and Anakin appoints someone sympathetic to his cause to ensure they remain under his control although some like Obi-Wan wish to continue fighting Anakin they know they are on thin ice and if they try something Anakin will bring the full might of the Republic on them this effectively leaves them declawed and forced to do what Anakin wants in the meantime Anakin contacts the CIS leaders and uses his connections to convince them to make peace using their business deals Anakin threatens to have their assets confiscated and crushed them completely with the full backing of the Senate military and Jedi Order they know this is far from an idle threat n gunray eventually agrees to make peace allowing the organizations to continue to exist albeit without their special privileges to his credit Anakin does work tirelessly to integrate the separatists world back into the Republic working to address their needs once the war is over Anakin decides not to return emergency Powers but further consolidate them around himself and declare himself emperor with his Sentinels and clones patrolling his Empire the Jedi are relegated to a largely ceremonial role leaving him as the Undisputed ruler of all that's our Theory the Star Wars universe is a Galaxy filled with exciting stories and possibilities and we
