What if the father from Mortise saved Anakin on Mustafar? Let's explore the depths of it in the video. Anakin closes his eyes and screams as the fire consumes his body. He rides around on the stony shore, feeling his body burn as the lava spreads across it. Although only a few seconds pass, it feels like an eternity. But as the pain looks ready to consume him, a blinding light shines through the air, leaving Anakin wincing and covering his eyes. The light is painful, but in a different way. It is blinding and sears through him, laying bare everything he's done. Where even closing his eyes offers no relief, and none of it prepares him for the voice. You have thrown this galaxy into disorder, boy. Do not gravel on the sand. Your destiny still awaits you. Visions suddenly fill his mind. These show him a place rich in the force whose powers are so strong they fill him with new energy. For just a moment, the pain in his body ceases. But it is also familiar. Anakin has been to this place before. He has felt this power once. Mortise. This is where you must go. Make haste. He suddenly disappears. And the pain raging across his body eases up enough that he can at least drag himself forward. Anakin knows this power isn't his, but given to him to accomplish this journey. Despite that, he does not remember much about it. He does not know how he escapes Mustafar or reaches his starship. The only thing he remembers is how good it felt once the burning sensation left him. If Mortise can take that from him, he will take his chances. But as soon as he crawls out of his star fighter, the pain in his body flares up. Even the cold winds blowing around him provide little comfort. Instead, it allows the force ghost of the father to appear, his face grimmer and more stern than ever. You should have remained here, boy. So you can enslave me so that I could serve you and your children. So you may learn about the force and balance. You would have studied under beings with millennia of experience. Learned in a place rich in force. Instead, you gallivanted off, destroying the galaxy to serve your whims." Anakin roars and struggles forward, but then immediately screams as the pain comes rushing back. The father looks over him and offers a severe look. Make no mistake, child. I saved you, but not because I care for you. Here you shall learn. If not for the galaxy, but for yourself, that is the only time the pain will stop. Anakin writhes and glares up at him, but then agrees to these terms. Satisfied, the father allows the pain to ease and begins working with him. The first course of action is to heal Anakin of his injuries. His burns are slowly healed while his limbs are restored. He provides Anakin with temporary prosthetics to wear until such a time that he can heal them properly. After that, his powers must be strengthened through training and experience, and that begins in earnest. Anakin stands barefoot within a chamber of light. The walls pulse with a soft living glow, almost like the skin of a star. The air is still warm and carries no weight, only peace. Even with the daughter's death, the temple has lost little of its luster. You are not broken, only lost. Confused. I betrayed everyone. Obi-Wan, the Jedi, Padme, and yourself. You went against everything you stood for. That is the greatest betrayal you have done. All for the fear of loss and death. Before we can go any further, you must combat that. He spreads his hands out, and the room's glow brightens until it becomes a blinding white. The whole room blends, leaving him unable to make anything out. That is until the memories start flooding in. They aren't just images running through his mind, but feelings. The feelings he felt when he lived them and how he feels now. The laughter of a boy pod racing, a mother's touch, the fire light of Padme's eyes when she says she believes in him. He breathes deeply, slowly, allowing them to wash over him. There is no judgment here, no war, just the truth of who he was, where he didn't need to hide anything or please anyone. Anakin reaches out to touch his mother's face, but as his fingers brush against her, she fades into the light. He stares in surprise, but the father places a hand on his shoulder. She's not here. She's long gone. Nothing you do can ever bring her back and nothing you do will ever prevent others from joining her. So what is the point of all this? To remind you of what truly matters. You were so quick to chase your dream that you forgot what was real. None of this is real. No, the joy you felt was real. The love, the freedom, none of that was an illusion. But you've spent your life chasing what cannot be kept, trying to hold on to what must change. That is where your pain begins. A child dreams of stopping time, of keeping everything the same forever. But you are no longer that child. Anakin has no response, but the father does not wait for one. Instead, he simply begins to march off as the chamber returns to normal. Anakin can only follow after him and look where he's going. On the other end of this valley, another temple awaits them. This one is of cold obsidian. Jagged stone juts like broken teeth around a dark pool that ripples without wind. Anakin stares at this place, feeling a cold shiver down his spine. But the father does not notice. Instead, he makes him look. This place represents you, boy. You fear what you are. You fear what dwells within. and yet indulge in it when the moment suits you. I know what I became. I don't need your lectures. Do you? Or do you still think you are doing it all for the greater good? When Anakin doesn't answer, that is all the response he needs. Then it is time you face your reflections. From the nearby pools, black and water churns, forming a towering figure of Vader. Armor intact, saber ignited. The red blade hums low and menacing. Yet the figure does not strike. It waits. I'm not him. No, you do not look like him. But that is where this path will lead you. The sooner you accept it, the sooner you can rectify it. As the father fades, Vader rushes at him. Anakin readies his lightsaber and blocks the strike. Their blades lock, and he stares into the empty blackness of Vader's eyes before breaking off. The two exchange blows once again. Anakin dodges, parries, spins, but the shadow mimics every move, every emotion. Rage meets rage. Guilt against guilt. Sparks scream through the cavern as blue and red collide. He does not hold back his emotions. Despite the icy sensation that Vader gives off, his emotions run wild, and every blow sends Anakin stumbling back a bit further. He glares at the creature, tempted to unleash his anger all at once. He wants to strike him down and retaliate. Vader almost welcomes the attacks, but then the shadow stops. The red glow fades. The reflection crumbles into the pool, leaving only Anakin, whole, lightaded, and breathing heavily. You hesitate. He was just like me, though he wore that armor. He acted like me. He knew what I knew. And he remains as unbalanced as you. The galaxy is in turmoil and hangs by a threat. Only you can restore it to its rightful place. I I am not ready. Perhaps, but that is why you shall remain here to help restore order and act as the steward of this place, as you should have done until you were ready. Anakin nods, and this time he takes those words to heart. For the next few weeks, the two of them train and travel through Mortise. The place has changed significantly since Anakin left years ago. The planet has fallen into hard times with its verdant greenery all dying. The force that flowed so naturally before appears twisted and broken. They are like arteries that are clogged. The animals that dwell there now run wild and some are driven mad. All of this presents the challenge for Anakin. His task is to put them in order and begin winning back balance in this strange place. He travels with the father, hunting down and healing the maddened animals or putting them down if they're too far gone. He travels to nexus points in the force, those which are choked up with energy and tries to act as its conduit to let it flow freely once more. And while he does this, he also continues to train. He journeys to both temples, facing the bliss and hatred that the father has shown him before. He's not sure which is more grueling, but his encounters leave him pushed to his absolute limit. Despite his best efforts, he still struggles to make sense of how to deal with either side of the force. But that doesn't stop him from making progress. Bit by bit, Mortise begins to heal from Anakin's efforts. Although the father remains impassive, he sees the results and shows them to Anakin. A small grove starting to bloom once more. A pack of beasts Anakin managed to tame and the force feeling less choked up here. With that, the pain in him eases a bit further. With a few more years of training, he may yet restore the place to its original state. However, the rest of the galaxy continues to bleed from the chaos. Though the disappearance of his apprentice stings, it does not stop Palpatine from creating his empire. The CIS still falls, and he extracts his will onto the outer rim. But without his enforcer defeating the holdouts takes much longer. The Imperial forces, especially new stormtroopers, struggle to hold the new territory together. Slowly, rebellions begin to gather. A few CIS holdouts along with the Jedi remnants prove to be particularly troubling. They regroup in the farthest points of the Outer Rim, where even the Empire cannot go after them. But these scattered groups begin to regroup and counterattack. This leads to a low inensity war across a dozen systems that steadily pushes the Empire to take harsher and harsher actions. Given that most of these systems are isolated, the Empire enacts brutal reprisals, from declaring martial law to committing war crimes in the name of security. The Jedi aren't the only thing that bothers him. Palpatine also searches for his wayward apprentice. It vexes him to see that Anakin seems to have disappeared into thin air, and he wishes to know where the boy ended up and whether he might have joined the rebellion. The thought of not knowing where someone like Anakin is bothers him. So, he spends his time within the Imperial Palace, searching for him. He performs ancient rituals trying to track him down. As he stands over a scrying bowl, he concentrates, channeling the powers of the Force. While the air sizzles with static as the dark side convulses, he feels it. Anakin's presence flickering like a sun behind a thick cloud. It disappears. Cidius stares ahead in silence for a moment. Pupils narrowing, fingers twitching. It is not death. He would have felt that. This is something else. Somewhere else. Mortis. A floating realm of light and dark. A figure in blue robes. Anakin kneeling beneath a colossal shape robed in twilight. The remnants of ancient beings flicker at the edges. Cracks form in the obsidian mirror. The room trembles as if the galaxy itself recoils. And still Mortise refuses him full entry. It is closed, locked to him. He cannot travel there. But now he knows where the young one is. Skywalker, you cannot hide behind fables. You are mine. The wind stirs softly through the overgrown sanctuary of the daughter, brushing the stone deis, where Anakin sits cross-legged in deep meditation. The air is calm, too calm. Then a whisper breaches the silence, not from the world, but from within the forest itself. The visions strike with the force of a memory, but sharper, more vivid, more real. Flames, a forest in chaos, smoke curling over shattered stone. Bale Orana's guard stumbles through the burning brush of Aldderon, clutching an infant as his guards fire behind him at unseen targets. His face is marked with soot and fear. He screams something, but the sound is swallowed by the crackle of fire and the shriek of approaching speeders. Then he sees them. Hooded figures emerge from the smoke. Some wear tattered robes of the Jedi, others the gear of rebel commandos. Their weapons ignite, blaster bolts snapping through the air. The guards fall one by one and they turn their attention to him. The only thing that saves him is Ahsoka, who appears from the trees and blocks their attacks. She unleashes a force wave that throws them back. While Bale Orana retreats, his former Padawan remains where she is and prepares to stop them. The vision shatters into smoke and darkness. Anakin gasps, staggering to his feet. His heart pounds and he sways as if struck. The chamber feels suddenly cold. Usoka, you saw what Cidius wished you to see. Truth bent into a weapon. Do not do what he wants. No, I saw them. Ahsoka, she was real. But what you saw was not a path. It was baked. His reach grows thin, but his venom is cunning. He has revealed your children to the galaxy, to those who fear what they may become. And now fear drives hands to violence. I have to go. She'll die. They'll all die again. If you leave now, you abandon the balance you are destined to bring. All you have worked for here will be lost. And if I don't act, what am I? Balanced or just paralyzed? You are not yet home. You act as half a man, half a soul. let go. But Anakin is already turning. His legs carry him away to the galaxy he turned his back on. The father watches this with a smile, watching as Anakin makes his way out and hops onto his ship. Somewhere in the shadows of another galaxy, Cidius smiles. Aldderon burns between twin moons, its green meadows and woods filled with the sounds of men shouting and blasters ripping through the woods. Bale hides in a cave, shielding the small girl who hides behind his cloak. Leia doesn't cry. She stares at the rocks. Ahsoka watches them, keeping her hands on her lightsaber. Outside, the air is split by thunder. Not from the sky, but from the space between. A ripple tears open above the planes, and men scream in the forest, their excitement turning into terror in an instant as they hear the hum of lightsabers. And then a figure steps out. Anakin Skywalker. He moves like a shadow through the battlefield. Blasters fire. Jedi shout orders. Rebel squads sweep the perimeter. All of them converge on the place where Bale hides, believing him a traitor, harboring a Sith's child. They never see him coming. Anakin ignites his lightsaber. Sky blue. It hums with purpose as he barrels through the squad surrounding the cave. Inside the mouth of the cave, Bale turns as the walls tremble. When they look out, only a single figure stands in the smoke. No, Anakin. The infant whimpers tearfully, but Anakin holds his hand out to them. I came to help you. You're in danger. Ahsoka doesn't lower her guard. She keeps her lightsabers ready. You shouldn't be here. You're putting her in danger. Suddenly, one of the Jedi steps forward and readies his lightsaber. Coleman Caj steps forward and readies his lightsaber. So, it is true. This is the spawn of Skywalker. Anakin's eyes widen at this revelation and he stares up at them. The whole world seems to swirl around him as he tries to make sense of everything that happened. The force itself reels. Padme cries, visions of children. He looks up at the child and sees her. Sees Padme's eyes and her hair. His body trembles. So what if she is master? Then you cannot leave here with her. The Jedi will take possession of her and ensure that your corruption will not spread. That's not going to happen. It doesn't have to be this way. I'm afraid it does. He steps closer and Anakin's anger flashes. He reaches for his lightsaber. Bale reaches for his blaster and Ahsoka steps beside him, but before they can approach, a thunderclap and a force seizes Anakin mid breath. He staggers and falls to his knees. Bale shouts something. Ahsoka moves to catch him, but Anakin's already gone. He stands once more on the floating spires of Mortise. But the skies above, once shifting with twilight harmony, are blackened now, raging with crimson storms. The sanctuary of the daughter lies in ruins. Her light snuffed out. The obelisks crackle with unchecked energy. The balance is unraveling. No, no, this shouldn't be happening. He senses it before he sees it. The veil parts and out of the storm steps Emperor Palpatine, his face calm, hands folded behind his back. You shouldn't be here. Ah, but you left it open for me. I couldn't resist. And what I found is exquisite. The raw force unconstrained. His eyes open and he looks around, but not to Coleman, to the shadows behind him, rising from the smoke, the dark silhouette of himself. The Vader shade, the same monster he once faced, but now it's stronger, fully formed. Vader ignites a crimson blade. The three get into defensive positions and block his initial strike. The dark lord's power is overwhelming, throwing them back and sending them tumbling. He turns to face Anakin, who parries the next strike. He raises his lightsaber in their weapons lock. They stare up at each other and he shoves him back. Vader does not back down and continues advancing against him. Their energies war with each other as they clash. A dark cloud washes over Vader and he unleashes it all at once. Anakin stumbles back, raising his lightsaber and trying to halt the energy. He stumbles back from the attack as the shade advances. Coleman and Ahsoka come from behind and try to strike at him, but he whirls around and intercepts their strikes. it doesn't weaken his attack on Anakin and lets him join in. The three rush at him from different sides, forcing him to defend against all attacks. If they hope to overwhelm with numbers, they are disappointed as Vader is savage, relentless. Anakin parries, but the blows shake him to the bone. Even Master Coleman can do nothing more than just defend against his powerful attacks. The dark vision of Anakin fights like a memory. Ferocious, unstoppable, inevitable. It knows every move Anakin makes, every flaw. As he advances, the dark energy radiating off him reminds him of his failures and the chaos he's caused. The guilt rises again. Padme, the temple, Obi-Wan, everything. But then, Leia's eyes flash through his mind. Luke's name. Padme's last words. There's still good in him. He rises and blocks the next attack. I'm not you. I was, but I've seen who I can be. With a furious cry, he strikes, joined by Ahsoka. Their blades pierce through the shadow, cutting it down together. The Vader shade lets out a final ragged breath and dissolves into starlight. You have fixed yourself and chosen your path. I will not stop you, but beware of what you might become." He closes his eyes and walks back into the forest. In the meantime, Anakin and Ahsoka make their way back to Mortise. But when they arrive, they find the planet is dying. The sky is not the sky anymore, just a vast wound of swirling red and violent, torn apart by a presence that does not belong. Lightning crashes sideways, and the once silent halls echo with cries of pain and whispers of madness. Anakin and Ahsoka emerge from the gateway. The sacred temples are a ruin with their trees withered into ash. The mountain where the sun once brooded now bleeds molten fire. And at the heart of it all stands Palpatine. His black robes ripple with stolen power. Threads of dark energy slithering into the very bones of Mortise. You return. I was hoping you would. Anakin ignites his saber, but the ground splits between them. A swirl of light appears, flickering as the father struggles in vain to halt his attacks. He stumbles and leans back against the attack. He is only a ghost and is fading fast. You do not belong here. This realm was not forged for the likes of you. And yet here I stand. Your death left Mortis unguarded. Your balance forgotten. He unleashes a burst of lightning. The power sends the father stumbling. The father raises a hand attempting to push him back with sheer will, but the power surges around Palpatine like a storm. And with a snarl, he casts the father aside. No, you've taken everything from me. You will not take this. Palpatine cackles, lightning crackling in his fingers. When Anakin finds it, though, he counters the attack with his lightsaber and deflects them to the wall. The earth begins to tremble as Anakin calls upon his power, and Mortise responds. White and black energy spirals around Anakin. One hand to the heavens, the other to the deep. From the daughter's grove, from the sun's lair, the fire control surges. But this time he bends neither to light nor dark. He bends both and rushes forward to Palpatine who reaches for the void into the sky and summons the darkness to his aid. The waves of dark energy wash over him and he unleashes a burst of power. Anakin unleashes the sun and daughter's energy to counter. The ground between them explodes in pure energy as they battle against one another. From the darkness, the two beings rush against each other, their lightsabers flashing. Palpatine sweeps his lightsaber down, but Anakin catches the weapon and then glares at him. Ahsoka emerges from the side, sweeping her lightsaber at him. They whirl around and sweep their lightsabers towards him. Palpatine intercepts this strike and shoves her back. He rushes forward to face her, emerging from the mist like a phantom. Ahsoka switches to defensive and halts his attack. Then from the side, Anakin emerges and brings his lightsaber down. The battle tears through Mortise, force meeting force. Palpatine hurls darkness like tidal waves. He draws upon the sky and sends spirals of darkness falling from it. Anakin leaps out of the way, forcing Palpatine to chase him just as Ahsoka dances through the attack and cuts him from the other side. He hisses in pain and shrieks, but when he tries to unleash lightning towards him, Anakin circles and comes at him once again. When the Emperor releases his lightning once again, he roars, "This place is mine. No, it is not." He slides back and forth against the blows and then rushes with his lightsaber in hand. With one final push, the power of Mortise erupts around them. A brilliant light, neither blinding nor burning, washes through the realm. Cidius screams as the light consumes him and he disappears into nothingness. Silence returns. Mortise breathes again. He looks over to the father who coughs weakly. At last, there is balance. He smiles and closes his eyes as he fades into nothingness. With Mortise secure, it becomes the new headquarters of the remaining Jedi, including Luke and Leia, who are brought there. But as they establish themselves on this planet, they also work to establish order in the galaxy, challenging Palpatines's remaining loyalists as they try to rebuild the Republic. That's our theory.
