fought in his first battle but the pain and joy he suffered from these events are nothing compared to the sting of losing his mother her death rocked Anakin's world and left his head spinning even now he is still struggling to make sense of everything that just happened as he marches toward the Jedi Council Chambers to hear what they have to say inside he finds several Jedi Council Members waiting for him kitfisto plun Shak T hiad Mundi and even a few non-council members anakan bows to them Masters I hope I didn't do anything wrong no we summoned you because we heard of your mother's passing oh I understand your concern but rest assured I will not let my emotions cloud my judgment Anakin we're here because we want to be here for you what Young Walker you just lost your mother no member of the order will fault you for letting your emotions out indeed to lose your mother in such a way any of us would have broken down that is is why we wish for you to be here in these time times you are is you find something that gives your life meaning more now than ever find something that gives you purpose what is it I want to help people since she passed all I can think of is how to prevent this from happening again I don't ever want to lose someone again death means a return to the force you should accept that and take solace in the fact that she is one with the force everyone pauses and glares at the Jedi Master until he announces that he would be quiet your compassion and dive are admirable young one but that is not as easy as it sounds death is as natural as life there are ways though to heal and ease the pain of others I've never been good at healing you've always struggled with attachment this I know but your emotions can be a powerful tool but I thought that the Jedi do not allow attachment won't emotions get in the way those are two different things letting go of attachment does not mean suppressing emotions it simply means knowing when where and how to use those emotions in the force Anakin takes those words to heart as after his talk with the Jedi he begins attending healing lessons in the Temple's infirmary he is welcomed with open arms many having heard of his desire to help people and encourage him to become a Healer the lessons are difficult and anakan struggles to use healing techniques that come so easily to younger Jedi but they encourage him to keep trying they remind him of his feelings about the loss of his mother and to use his desire to help others as motivation each time he does he feels a surge of power and then slowly he begins to develop his abilities his healing powers start to grow it starts small and there are many people to practice with with the war breaking out the temple overflows with refugees clones and Jedi from the front lines Anakin puts his training to good use helping those injured recover from the smallest of cuts to severe Blaster wounds of course even with his growing skills he cannot save everyone and each loss weighs heavily on his mind but whenever this happens he has kind people around him to help reassure him it is difficult but he learns to work past his attachment to loss and focus on his task it is here that he truly understand understands the dangers of attachment to focus so much on the loss of one patient can prevent him from saving others still more of his patients survive than die and the ratio only improves over time he would have gladly remained there for the remainder of the war but the demands of the Clone Wars pull him into the front lines soon Anakin finds himself leading troops into battle thankfully he proves to be an incredibly competent General being able to overcome the most difficult battles and gain victories across the outer rim the 500 first proved to be one of the most successful clone units in the Army however none of this removes the Compassionate Heart Anakin built up when not planning battles he's often helping his wounded soldiers or visiting the civilian population to see how they are unfortunately despite everything they promised to do to help the people of the Galaxy Anakin finds suffering wherever he turns entire planets are left in Ruins because of the war and the Republic does not seem interested in doing anything however the Jedi claim this is too difficult for them to tend to as their numbers are spread thin and the Clones are focused on Battle while he understands their reasoning he does not agree with it when he returns to corusant Anakin petitions the Jedi to include a mercy Corp in each sector army they will travel alongside the Army to help the planets rebuild after the battle aside from the Jedi Padme thinks this is a fantastic idea she sees how his healing lessons have changed Anakin and encourages it proud to see her husband rise above his grief and use it for the benefit of others she provides her full support and brings it before the Senate while they seem open this comes with a Litany of excuses they talk about the difficulties of raising funds Logistics and costs delays in its implementation become all too common to Anakin as it seems like they are moving at a snails pace despite everything Padme does she cannot get enough momentum to get the mercy Corp project off the ground you are bringing hope you're planting seeds anakan even if the mercy core isn't ready now the idea is out there and it's powerful you've inspired people me for one your mother would be proud it's not enough Padme I thought getting stronger would be enough but I see there are limits to what I can do you are strong Anakin but change takes time I believe in you so many people do don't lose sight of that okay I don't know what I'd do without you good thing you don't have to find out however their moment is seems Noble liberating besieged towns and eliminating corrupt Warlords bringing stability to Regions forgotten by the Senate refugees cheer on his arrival and word spreads of the Jedi General who freed them Anakin has granted all the credit for this further raising his name but these were all meant to strengthen Palpatine's hold each enemy Anakin eliminates his replace not with a Democratic leader but with one loyal to the chancellor Governors and Senators who had resisted Palpatine's Authority were quietly removed he is careful to hide this letting Anakin only see the good he does especially as the mercy core begins to thrive deploying across multiple sectors soon it begins growing exponentially faster than the Jedi can imagine this allows Palpatine to infiltrate the organization offering to help manage it with the core operating on so many planets Palpatine begins appointing members on systems loyal to his agenda parceling out resources based on those who are loyal to him some begin to skim supplies for their system or as a way to punish those he deems disloyal many Jedi are ignorant of this as their attention is focused on the war effort but one Jedi does take notice Baris Sophi one of the core's most dedicated members from her base on fuchia she notices strange patterns certain planets are prioritized regardless of need resources promised to neutral worlds never arrive redirected to systems loyal to the chancellor when she questions these irregularities she is met with silence or Worse subtle reprimands from her public officials Baris voices her concerns to master luminara in the council she speaks of her unease of how the mercy Corp though seemingly a Force for good is being manipulated the lines between War and Peace are blurring this is not what the Gen to do the council listens but dismisses her concerns Mace Windu argues that the mercy Corp is still in its infancy and cannot yet meet the Galaxy's overwhelming needs kiad Mundi suggests that Baris is too focused on small details to see the bigger picture in the end they provide vague promises to look into the matter Baris leaves the chamber disheartened but her doubts grow stronger she begins to investigate on her own pouring over Mission logs and reports patterns still emerge systems benefiting from Anakin's missions receive much of the aid confirming her suspicions unfortunately Anakin remains distant as he is now constantly on the front on raxus Prime he dismantles a separatist weapons Depot eliminating a rival to Palpatine's allies on Kon Andia he secures trade routes vital to Republic Supply chains which are soon redirected to the Chancellor's favorite systems each success brings him closer to his goal but the cost of the Republic's democracy goes unnoticed Palpatine plays his part m masterfully commending Anakin's efforts in public while Whispering words of encouragement in private in the meantime he uses this as a method to subtly challenge the Jedi Order he shows how the Mercy Corps is now handling most relief efforts instead of the Jedi orders organizations urging them to Simply focus on the war effort depriving them of their connection with the people however this becomes too much for Baris who becomes disillusioned by the Jedi Order In The Republic believing that they have lost themselves to their greed she decides to take drastic action and decides to launch an attack working with several agitators and committing a terrorist attack by bombing the Mercy Corps headquarters the attack on the headquarters sends shock waves through the Galaxy a series of coordinated explosions ripping through the building reducing entire sections to Rubble volunteers and Jedi alike scramble to pull survivors from the wreckage this paralyzes operations and forces Anakin to pull back from his campaign as he hurries back to survey the wreckage as he sees the aftermath of this attack his heart pounds with rage everything he's worked for has now been reduced to Ash his efforts to save people all the missions he's accomplished in the name of doing this bodies are lined up outside covered with tarps while Medics rush to treat the wounded for a moment he's paralyzed overwhelmed by the sheer scope of the destruction the investigation begins almost immediately Republic security forces and Jedi alike sift through the wreckage piecing together evidence Anakin Works tirelessly to determined to find those responsible his Fury grows with each passing hour his mind racing with possibilities however the investigation comes to an end when he discovers security footage of a hooded figure planting bombs in one of the support pillars Ahsoka tries to investigate further using the force to guide her as she studies the scene of the crime to her surprise she finds a familiar feeling a lingering presence Baris Baris that's impossible she's a Jedi it's hard to believe but it's the only lead we have and well we couldn't find her here alive or dead no one seems to know where she went even luminara reports her missing on fuchia it is as if she disappeared off the face of the Galaxy Anakin can only clench his fists as The Disappearance fuels his belief that she had something to do with it Baris herself goes into hiding slipping off world in the aftermath of the attack and hiding in the underbelly of corusant to consider her next move the corruption within the mercy core the Jedi's blindness to it the Galaxy's descent into chaos all of it pushes her forward she clings to the idea that her attack was a necessary evil to wake the order from its complacency but as she wanders around vulnerable Palpatine seizes the opportunity and reaches out with the force planting Visions in her mind but rather than show the future he shows the past he is well aware of Anakin's attachment to Padme and crafts visions of these past meetings Palpatine twists her perception showing him as a man consumed by his connection to Padme willing to sacrifice the Galaxy for her the vision shows him standing at padme's side a dark shadow looming over him his power unchecked he shows images of Anakin's secret marriage his love for her and how his attachment to her has led him to let anger get the better of him all of this nudges Baris to another conclusion that Anakin may be compromised and Must Be Stopped as Baris recovers she concludes that she must stop Anakin and the best way for her to do that is to Target Padme she makes her way to padme's Residence telling herself it is not to harm her but to get the truth and draw Anakin out soon after Palpatine sends word to Anakin that Padme is in danger and some of her soldiers find Baris arriving in corusant he wastes no time in hurrying back to corusant with a leaving his troops behind to clean up the mess when he reaches the Senate District a wave of unease washes over him his thoughts turn to Padme inside the Senator's apartment Baris stands in the shadows her breathing uneven as she struggles to find the words the movement is not lost on Padme who reaches for her Blaster who's there Baris steps Out of the Shadows one hand on her lightsaber but not igniting it yet you don't understand the damage you've done to the Galaxy the Republic is failing and the Jenner are little more than slaves because of Anakin Anakin loves me Baris that doesn't make him a threat not intentionally but he's allowed himself to become a pawn of the dark side just as every other Jenner that cannot allow it to continue you must end this before it's too late suddenly the door flies open and Anakin steps out followed by Ahsoka get away from her Baris spins around her lightsaber springing to life just as Anakin leaps at her she blocks his attack and tries to twist aside but runs into ahsoka's lightsabers the young Jedi stumbles out of the way trying to avoid this attack once she puts some distance she manages to Parry the next attacks she tries to counter with a follow-up slash at Ahsoka though she crosses her lightsabers and deflects the attack you attacked the mercy Corp you murdered innocent people you betrayed the Jedi I had no choice the Jedi are blind you're blind you can't see how deeply the Galaxy is Fallen Anakin Roars and Reigns down attacks on her leaving the young Jedi struggling to defend she tries to hold them back fighting defensively but she doesn't have the strength to match Anakin Ahsoka veers off to the side and tries to strike at her wherever she gets the chance focusing on non-lethal attacks aimed at disabling her but even these restrained attacks leaves Baris struggling as Anakin advances all his restraint is gone and he reigns down powerful attacks that would have crushed lesser opponents gritting her teeth she summons her strength strength and pushes back at him Baris twists and Strikes at him as she sees the darkness overtaking him now more than ever she's convinced that she needs to act her movements become more aggressive and she even stabs at him but this attack is quickly Sid stepped and slams her against the wall Padme watches Frozen as the two Jedi square off even ahsoka's expression falters as he can see the darkness consuming Anakin just as Baris predicted suddenly they grab his arms and try to pull him away he stop this isn't like you master look what you're doing Anakin glares at Baris who struggles to move struggling against his powers and his expression softens for the first time he looks through his anger and studies Baris as if he would any patient and there he can sense her emotions while there is nothing physically wrong with her he can sense the hurt inside and lets her go Baris drops to the ground and gasps looking up at him you're all right explain to me what going on I never wanted to hurt anyone but no one would listen when I was serving in the Mercy Corps I started seeing things patterns the supplies meant for rebuilding planets they'd vanish entire regions were left starving while the governor's loyal to the Republic suddenly became wealthier and it wasn't just greed the resources were being diverted to strengthen Palpatine's grip on power I tried to tell the Jedi but they wouldn't listen listen that doesn't explain why you attacked the core I didn't know how to make anyone listen I felt it Anakin the darkness growing stronger every day I couldn't just stand by I thought if I destroyed the core I could expose the corruption and force the Jedi to act and the Visions they were just flashes images of you Padme of your relationship it was telling me you were compromised and corrupted and how your relationship would be the Doom of the Republic Anakin freezes the weight of her words crashing down on him his mind flashes back to the missions the praise from Palpatine and the resources suddenly freed up for the core it all seemed too easy too convenient Palpatine but how could that be can I see this data Baris reaches out for a data chip begins to analyze it true to what bars said many worlds were struggling and others benefited disproportionately from other worlds and just as she said these were worlds known to be friendly to Palpatine suddenly things begin to click together and he realizes this is more than paranoia then we have to stop him I won't let this Mercy Corp be used like this I won't let my mother's Legacy be tarnished Anakin whatever happens I'm glad that you want the monster I feared they move quickly storming the Chancellor's private Chambers in the dead of night Palpatine stands calm calmly as they enter ah young Baris you've caused quite a stir I hope you are here to turn yourself in all in your name it seems I know that you're the one who sent me those Visions as if I didn't say anything untrue Anakin was compromised and corrupted he could not even keep his Jedi vows and yet you are the one who benefits from his downfall you the one who claims the wealth the force works in mysterious ways now the question is what are you here for Baris responds by igniting her lightsaber and taking a step forward I give you all the information and you remain as foolish as ever within human speed Palpatine rushes forward his lightsaber ignited and raised above his head Baris barely blocks this attack though the force sends her stumbling back smirking the chancellor presses his advantage and rushes at her lightsaber flashing and putting her in UND defensive the few attacks that Baris unleashes are easily beaten back and swings his lightsaber up with enough Force to throw her back I would have thought you could have been useful but you are more treble than you are worth you've got that right as he rushes to finish her off a pair of lightsabers ignite and block the attack Ahsoka smirks and jerks them up for forcing Palpatine to break off his attack just as she follows with a kick the blow isn't serious but catches him off guard especially once Anakin follows after raising his lightsaber over his head this time Palpatine is now on the defensive as he tries to block these attacks so it was you everything you've done it was just to help you don't act so surprised Skywalker that is politics he laughs and then pivots and thrusts his lightsaber narrowly missing an's Shield but this doesn't slow him down as he continues to advance on him Palpatine pauses to block these attacks which grow stronger and stronger from the side Ahsoka sweeps low her agility allows her to keep up she sweeps her lightsabers in a series of quick slashes these proved to be an annoyance leaving him growling and breaking off the attack to block her next swing and then throws her back bars comes from the other side rushing at him her attacks are quick and aggressive and paired off with Anakin they begin to push him back he growls as the ground around him grows hot from their lightsaber Sparks Palpatine Moves Like a Storm always blocking their attacks as Ahsoka joins in from the other side his Crimson blade moves out like a snake causing a few minor injuries it bought him enough time to unleash a barrage of lightning sending Baris crashing into a wall Anakin's rage flares and he channels it into his strikes driving Palpatine back Ahsoka meanwhile slashes her lightsaber in a sweeping blow starting to crack his defenses Anakin is Relentless hammering him as Palpatine fails to break his momentum even using lightning Ahsoka leaps over him her dual blades spinning in a flurry of attacks while Anakin goes low sweeping his lightsaber across his stomach the chancellor gasps and stumbles back clutching his stomach however Anakin leaves nothing to chance and drives his lightsaber into his throat when the dust settles Anakin turns to Baris and lays his hand over her burns his hands glow faintly as he channels the Force to heal her wounds she gasps her eyes fluttering open and looks at him with a mix of gratitude and regret once Baris recovers she presents herself before the Senate and Jedi where she confesses her crimes however she also presents her findings to the Senate with this situation they are forced to listen something they failed to do before hearing the news and with Anakin devou for her they are stunned at this development and Padme used es the opportunity to call for a review of this Mission starting to remove Palpatine's appointments meanwhile Anakin goes back to personally take command of the Mercy Corps to ensure it is led the way it was intended Baris though faces prison time for her attack on the Mercy Corps headquarters but her actions spare her in execution still the shocking development forces the Jedi to begin reviewing their involvement in the Republic and to distance themselves from politics that's our Theory the Star Wars
