the anger in size the republic government has been pressuring us to take harsh action to resolve this issue they believe that if we do not comply with their demands then we may be compromised so that's what this is then appeasement giving them their pound of Flesh this Council should be ashamed of itself how can we call ourselves Bringers of Justice when we can't even ensure it for ourselves understandable your frustrations are complex but this matter is understandable what's complex about it you said it yourself your vision is clouded and yet you would condemn an innocent girl all because of Politics the Jedi are supposed to be honorable and do what's right even when it's difficult especially if it's difficult the whole room goes silent as they stare at Anakin for a moment they look ready to condemn him but suddenly a look crosses their faces shame Skywalker speaks passionately but truly the Senate's recent actions have left much to be desired they should be the last people to criticize us about Justice compromise our beliefs we should not wrong this decision is resend my I vote I do as do I the others who voted to kick Ahsoka out suddenly alter their votes now all fully supporting her this causes quite a stir in the public and the Senate are quick to use it against them but whatever criticism they have soon vanishes as the truth is revealed Anakin captures Baris who confesses to their crimes suddenly the chancellor and his allies are on the back fooot as they must reluctantly retract their statements and acknowledge the Jedi wisdom in handling the situation although the council tries to explain their actions Anakin and Ahsoka are Furious that the Jedi Order is being politicized in such a way to their surprise the council agrees after hearing Anakin's words it is like a cold Awakening at how close they came to surrendering their values and breaking the Jedi Code the Jedi agreed to try and make some changes to understand the needs of the people once again as Anakin and Ahsoka seem most in tune with the regular citizens of the Galaxy they place them in charge of this new organization as usual the first to congratulate Anakin for his role is Palpatine who contacts Anakin and offers his thanks but while he is normally eager for praise from the chancellor Anakin now responds with cool courtesy this event shook up his trust in the government especially the chancellor seeing how close the chancellor was to destroying the future of his Apprentice Anakin doesn't feel comfortable being with him as the head of this organization Anakin spends his time visiting the lower District and refugee camps of the Jedi Order alongside Ahsoka and Padme the three are perhaps the only ones who seem to have the people's trust Anakin's status as a war hero has him practically revered by the refugees ahsoka's recent trial has won her the sympathy of the people of corusant who face Injustice every day and padme's efforts to help the poorest of the poor are well known this allows the people to slowly open up to them they spend weeks there slumming with the people listening to their woes sharing their food and trying to understand what they are going through the biggest concern they have is the war but not because they fear the CIS instead they are worried that they are forgotten as the war drags on they feel their freedom and rights are slowly being chipped away while the services which the government used to provide are no longer there meanwhile they are equally disillusioned with the Jedi Order who are their protectors there used to be Jedi who helped keep things in order in the lower districts but now all of them are in the front fighting a war and becoming generals instead to that end Ahsoka decides to visit her old friend in prison Baris to get her thoughts on this I wasn't expecting to see you here not after what I did believe me I wouldn't be here if I didn't think it was important but you said something that got my attention that we're an army fighting for the dark side opened your eyes have you look around you my friend is this what you pictured the Jedi doing fighting in a war Le leading troops at our age having to watch our friends die because the Republic wished to make US soldiers you can't blame the Republic for that that was Dooku's doing what were we supposed to do you act as if we're the only ones who can stop him there are millions of soldiers willing to fight why does it have to be us that's exactly why I chose this path we act like we're heroes like we're the only ones who know what's right that arrogance has blinded us tell me when was the last time you felt like the Jedi were acting in the best interests of the people instead of just trying to win this war not your master but the order as a whole Ahsoka opens her mouth but then bites her lip as she struggles to come up with an answer in truth she's also had her share of misgivings the recent actions on andon and her adventures on fuchia with some bounty hunters made her question these things while the Jedi are more open to listening now it raises some concerns about how they can resolve this problem as the war is still going on and escalating with the outter room sieges many question how they can get out of the war the Senate urges all military forces to fight in various Outer Rim threats to put an end to this Galactic War but Anakin and Padme instead come up with a solution they point out that with the CIS pushed out of the core territories there's less need for the Jedi here to be as militarized instead those serving here can focus on humanitarian roles especially the younger Knights and padawans as the clones have now gained years of experience they can effectively take over military command in some places letting the Jedi scale back their military role and transition into more peaceful existence meanwhile those serving in the outer rim can split their role still helping the military but also helping rebuild Anakin even goes as far as to suggest they reestablish new temples in the outer rim but not as military bases instead these will become humanitarian efforts where the Jedi can help the affected populations instead of framing it as abandoning the war effort the Jedi present it as a sign of faith in the Republic proof that they believe the war is nearing its end their focus they claim is Shifting toward rebuilding and doing their part to restore what was lost the Jedi stationed in these sectors do more than simply lead troops now they can better conduct humanitarian missions and understand the local threats aside from the CIS local leaders are invited to consult and plan with Jedi creating new ways to help people the Jedi's reputation with the people begins to recover as they see some tangible improvements in their life and the Jedi simply appear more present instead of being trapped in dealing with situations on their own they see the Jedi and some local troops patrolling the streets visiting isolated Villages and storming Smuggler dens seeing this success Palpatine is furious as this might win the public support back to the Jedi Order he begins looking for ways to undermine them trying to limit their resources or redeploy their forces however things aren't as simple as they were before with Anakin now suspicious and angry at the Senate he begins to find ways to get around them either fundraising supplies finding volunteers to work at the temple or getting local groups more involved to cover for any Manpower shortages although it isn't perfect by starting to distance themselves from corusant the Jedi begin to regain their independence soon enough they take another step and say that any Jedi who wishes to resign their role in The Republic military will be permitted and allowed to work in the civilian area seeing how bad the situation is turning Palpatine decides he cannot use the Senate alone to accomplish his plan instead he must defeat the Jedi through the people their efforts have indeed helped them win the hearts and minds of the people once again but many remain skeptical and are not so quick to forgive instead some groups remain critical of the Jedi efforts and Palpatine Secret L funds them some extremist factions believe that the Jedi are already too far gone and must be destroyed these efforts are simply them trying to desperately regain the trust of the people or cover up their poor performance in the past among them are those who have allied with Baris in the past and wish to bring the Jedi down they are roused within the bowels of the lower districts of corusant people who have been neglected more than anyone else these are places of crime and Chaos that even the Jedi I struggle to control here Palpatine builds his organization having Smugglers send down weapons and equipment for them to fight these partisan groups take this as their chance to strike they ascend the upper levels with the intent of causing some chaos at first their attacks are small and not meant to hurt anyone they vandalize Jedi in buildings with graffiti that condemns them While others simply destroy government vehicles as marks of protest although this angers the government vandalism and destruction of public property are far from the worst things and most are satisfied to send more members of the corusant Guard to the affected areas however it does have the effect of scaring the civilian population they see these vandals doing these things sometimes in broad daylight and other times they hear it late at night and wonder if they're safe while the corusant guard helps put some fears to rest this leaves them open to the next phase of their plan the partisans soon strike again this time armed with blasters and explosives instead of spray painted power tools they begin lobbing explosives into guard outposts or ambushing patrols while they walk through the streets one of the worst incidents happens when one partisan hurls a grenade into a small prison killing several guards vandalism is one thing but these are now seen as acts of violence against the state and Palpatine authorizes Commander Fox to act in kind patrols are doubled and reinforcements are now sent to the lower levels instead of acting like police though these Troopers find themselves closer to acting as an Army in a war zone the partisans eagerly wage war against them claiming the Republic is trying to silence them their weapons allow them to match the Clones in terms of equipment leading to high casualties on both sides meanwhile the civilian population is caught in between as the Clones are focused on restoring order at all costs they fight through the streets into partisans they burst into houses in search of suspected Rebels imposing strict curfews and arresting anyone who breaks the rules rather than intimidate the rebels this only infuriates the civilians leading to some angry citizens joining the partisans within weeks the death tool is mounting as hundreds die and it is now spiraling out of Commander Fox's control the Senate desperately appeals to the Jedi Order for help asking them to intervene but the partisans will not have this and threaten to escalate the situation if the republic or Jedi send any more soldiers they will only accept terms if the Senate withdraws all of its soldiers and allows them to rule the lower districts independently these are conditions that neither Palpatine or the Senate can ever accept instead Padme volunteers to go down there and try to reason with the people she recalls how the people of the lower districts welcomed her in the past and hopefully she can use the Goodwill they showed her before to try and secure a peace deal Padme walks through the lower districts flanked by a small unarmed security detail she takes note of everything that has changed since she last arrived graffiti covers the walls scrawled with messages of rebellion and despair they curse the Republic and the Jedi for abandoning them yet as Padme steps forward people emerge cautiously from their hiding places they recognize her some murmuring her name they nod respectfully as Padme did before while visiting for the next few days she travels across the lower districts trying to help the people and understand their plight she promises to send further support and reassures them that the Senate has not forgotten them this goes on for several days and it seems like things begin to calm down the people go out to listen to her visiting her in her quarters and there are few reports of clashes with the corant guard they take this as a positive sign so Padme decides to issue a public address in the district she stands over a makeshift Podium as the citizens of level 13113 gather to see her I know you're angry you feel abandoned forgotten but I promise you the Republic is not given up on you I have not given up on you all your concerns all your troubles will make their way to the Senate's ears This I Promise her words begin to take hold the crowd's shouts softened into murmurs some lowering their makeshift weapons Padme speaks of unity of rebuilding trust between the Republic and its people for the first time in weeks there is a flicker of Hope then out of nowhere a small object arcs through the air a crudely made bomb it lands with a deafening explosion and Chaos erupts the podium erupts into splinters as she's thrown aside smoke fills the square as people scream and shatter Padme lies crumpled on the ground her hand clutching her side where shrapnel has torn through her clothes blood stains the fabric her guards rush to her shielding her from the Stampede of panicking civilians and carry her off the news spreads quickly reaching Anakin's Skywalker in the Jedi Temple he storms into the med center where Padme is being treated his face pale and twisted with anguish why did you let her go alone I had to they needed to know someone cared they don't deserve you you were there to help and they tried to murder you but it isn't just Anakin who hears about this news soon spreads to the Senate who are livid that one of their own was attacked in broad daylight Palpatine does little to calm tensions promising to take Swift action to punish the perpetrators already a task force is being prepared to head down and confront them to that end Palpatine decides to contact Anakin my boy I've heard the terrible news how is Senator amadala she's injured but she'll recover this cannot stand the partisans have gone too far the Senate is prepared to send forces to deal with this medice I'll leave that to you Chancellor after a moment of silence Palpatine sigh and looks at him you are are still angry at me I don't blame you but my boy you must understand I was placed in an impossible position did not wish to hurt anyone much less you my Padawan was nearly expelled because of that stunt because you didn't trust in the Jedi I know I know it was a mistake and I know I cannot undo it but perhaps I can make amends I want you to lead this task force I believe you are the only one who can truly bring order to the chaos you want me to fight them after what happened to Padme you always fight with your heart it is what allowed you to uncover the bombing plot and I believe that this is more important here now when the time comes I know you will do the right thing you'll have the power to bring peace where others have failed isn't that what padne would want for you to take up where she left off Anakin glances back at Padme Who Lies pale and fragile on the center bed his heart twists with anger before he nods soon after Ahsoka and Anakin join forces with the task force as they descend into corusant lower districts the streets are now A Wasteland of shattered buildings scorched vehicles and the lingering smell of smoke and Ash this is due to Fox's efforts to try and control the partisans Anakin's gaze sweeps over the devastation his expression hardening with every step as the task force presses deeper into the district they encounter resistance as partisans armed with blasters and explosives Ambush them from rooftops and Alleyways the Clones return fire Anakin ignites his lightsaber deflecting bolts as he rushes forward he storms through several buildings cutting through the guards like they are nothing but the partisans have their surprises military grade blasters and a shoulder mounted rocket launch these weapons take the Clones off guard and Scatter their forces they are about to order a retreat but Anakin rushes forward advancing through the fire as he cuts through these entrenched Rebels taking them out with brutal efficiency but this is just the beginning they find more buildings fortified or rigged with traps landmines are triggered that bring down buildings on top of them Anakin and Ahsoka spend their time protecting their soldiers from these traps but despite their best efforts the casualties begin to mount not even the civilian Ians are safe as they open fire with rocket launchers and repeating blasters even in civilian areas where did they get this kind of Firepower probably stole it they're using it to kill us that's all I need to know the Skirmish escalates into a full-blown battle civilians scream and Scatter as stray shots destroy what little remains of their homes Anakin's movements become increasingly aggressive his strikes fueled by the memory of Padme lying injured and bleeding in the center but seeing the chaos they are causing now now only enrages him further as he cuts through the last of them and secures the area but while Anakin begins his plan to push forward Ahsoka begins to suspect there is something more when the fighting subsides she begins her investigation conducting quiet inventory checks and speaking with Commander Fox's men they reveal that they didn't bring any heavy weapons with them which means the partisans couldn't have just stolen them as they Advance Ahsoka tries to talk to the civilians while providing a humanitarian effort many are too frightened to talk but with a few whispers about an anonymous benefactor who has been supplying the partisans with weapons most only catch a glimpse of him on the streets or in secret meetings he certainly must be quite powerful to access these weapons Ahsoka begins to suspect who this might be just as the situation gets worse under Anakin's leadership the partisans Begin to Fall he is Relentless in his Pursuit storming through building after building and clearing them out with ruthless efficiency soon they begin to track down the remaining leadership of the partisans to a crumbled Warehouse the whole place becomes a Labyrinth of traps and ambushes as they fight tooth and nail for every step but soon Anakin finds the leaders in one of the offices he strides forward lightsaber ignited Ahsoka steps between him and the cowering leaders raising a hand Anakin stop killing them won't solve anything they deserve justice and they'll get it but not from here Padme wouldn't want this please we're not here to be the Senate's dogs anymore we're Jedi fine they better tell us everything all right let's start with your benefactor who is giving you these weapons we stole them Anakin ignites his lightsaber and steps closer while Ahsoka crosses her arms we want real answers we know these weapons are too powerful for the corusant guard I also know that someone has been supplying you with weapons now why don't you tell the truth so we can lock you up and keep you away from my friend I don't have names he comes in gives us the weapons and some instructions and then leaves what are these instructions when he first started giving us weapons it was to cause trouble give the corusant guard reason to come here so we can take them out but before you showed up he was telling us to cause as much destruction as possible slow you down and make sure you felt the pain the partisans begin to describe how he looks describing him as an older human but that is all they know about him since he kept his face covered it is enough for Anakin though who already suspects who it might be once they return to the surface Anakin storms into the Chancellor's office Palpatine's expression is calm almost amused Anakin to what do I owe this unexpected visit don't play games with me Chancellor the partisans the weapons it was you wasn't it I'm not sure what you mean my boy don't lie to me again you almost took my Padawan and now you tried to take away padne he ignites his lightsaber and holds it up to him and why would I do such a thing Anakin because you thrive on chaos and you enjoy manipulating everyone admit it you've grown perceptive my young friend a Pity it's come too late as for me enjoying manipulating others you will make it so easy he suddenly leaps to his feet his desk flying forward towards Anakin he slashes the desk in half just as Palpatine releases a torrent of Force lightning Anakin picks up the pieces of the desk and uses them to Shield himself just as it explodes all around him Palpatine leaps over his lightsaber slashing at him but Anakin manages to defend himself their blades clashing with a deafening hum as their emotions pour over Anakin's rage and betrayal meet Palpatine's excitement and ambition as it grows stronger their attacks become blinding Anakin Dodges Palpatine's first strike and moves to the side trying to flank him and strike at his head but the Sith Lord smiles and Ducks under driving his palm into Anakin's stomach and throwing him back as he falls to the ground Palpatine follows with an overhead slash that nearly takes his head laughing the Sith Lord follows with several lazy chops each of those forces Anakin back but as the last one connects Anakin unexpectedly pushes forward and shoves Palpatine back Palpatine stumbles as the door opens and Ahsoka makes a stab at him the attack narrowly misses forcing him to dodge out of the way he glances at the two of them as they come at him from opposite sides Ahsoka moves fast like a Viper her strikes lashing out at all his vulnerable spots while Anakin continues to hammer him shoving him back Palpatine loses his balance but continues to fight snarling raises his hand and throws another wave of force energy this time the pair dive out of the way Ahsoka going low and trying to sweep at his leg but Palpatine counters with a surge of attacks his movements are too fast for the young Padawan who tries to give ground as she struggles to defend against his attack seeing her starting to give ground Palpatine Smiles as his confidence surges and sweeps his lightsaber and sends one of her weapons flying but seeing her struggling anakan suddenly surges forward sweeping into the fight he stops kill blow and locks Sabres with Palpatine blinking Palpatine tries to Surge forward but Anakin doesn't budge and drives him back he whirls and slashes at Palpatine's side when the chancellor moves to block he slams his fist into him several times the blow sends him reeling back and follows with a kick Palpatine struggles back to a corner one blow glances across his side leaving Anakin wincing but Palpatine moves to strike it again he shrugs it off and continues to step forward glaring and trying to slash at him again but anakan is faster and whirls around removing the Chancellor's head after this the Senate is in an uproar but testimony from the partisan leaders and their mysterious allies throws some questions about what happened an investigation is conducted that shows the missing weapons and how Palpatine was missing during the times when the partisans met up with their contact this is enough to cast doubt on him especially since it means he was part of the attack on Padme something that shakes up even his most loyal allies soon after more Investments are made in the lower districts to improve its infrastructure and living conditions Padme Heads This operation once she is recovered meanwhile the Jedi demilitarization continues and by the end of the war they are demilitarized entirely thankfully that happens sooner as the CIS are left without their
