Skywalker though a Jedi he never fit into the Jedi code and had a touch of darkness in him now it only became a matter of turning him as they discuss it Palpatine Reveals His plan to subtly guide Anakin planting seeds of Doubt against the Jedi and showing him their flaws to do so they must strike at his heart Palpatine has plenty of opportunities for that as the two meet up regularly to discuss the future of the Republic after the war the chancellor skillfully steers their conversations toward possible reforms while he starts with the Senate Palpatine also mentions possibly trying to change the Jedi he talks about the Jedi's flaws and how their potential is being squandered due to following Doctrine and Dogma instead of doing what is best for the Republic among these issues he brings up some of their questionable practices Anakin finds himself agreeing with that espe especially as Palpatine suggests using attachment constructively instead of suppressing it but at the same time Anakin is uncomfortable with it as it's one thing for fellow Jedi to talk about this but Palpatine is still an outsider and a politician he is nervous at the idea of politicians taking over the Jedi Order and using it for their agenda the Jedi Council feels the same way and worries that Palpatine will not surrender his authority they ask Anakin to keep an eye on him when Anakin takes on this Mission he soon begins to encounter Visions in his sleep and meditation he gets visions of Padme dying but not in birth instead she perishes through various other ways from the stress of her work assassination or killed while being caught up in a war effort these Visions are beginning to be mixed up with other things the others are instances of the Jedi hesitation to act or when they let their Jedi Code block their Visions meanwhile there are visions of people suffering in the Galaxy famine war and poverty that were caused in part by the cis's brutality but also the Jedi inaction some of these instances are even things he's encountered personally Palpatine subtly positions himself as someone who truly understands Anakin's potential Anakin feeling validated and understood in ways the Jedi never provided begins to contemplate the possibility of a third path a balance of compassion and strength Unbound by the dogma of the Jedi and the recklessness of the Sith but the effects are soon felt as Anakin begins to question the Jedi Order he admits he's wary of Palpatine's actions he also talks about some of his plans to reform the Republic even though they are quite good the council is reluctant to support them simply stating they will let the Senate decide they rebuke him for how he's allowing himself to be compromised by the chancellor which changes Anakin's tune all he's been hearing from the Jedi is distrust and criticism despite everything he's done for them Anakin's attitude toward the Jedi has shifted he begins to question their decisions more openly calling out the Council on their hesitations and their unwillingness to take stronger actions meanwhile Palpatine is there to offer a helping hand sensing that the time is right he offers to guide Anakin through these dark times and introduces him to an old friend the two soon make their way to prison where the pair visit Dooku at first Anakin is confused and suspicious glaring at Dooku patience my boy you deserve answers and that is precisely why I brought you here Skywalker I know we've been enemies on the battlefield but that was never my true intent allow me to explain you expect me to believe that after everything you've done the Jedi you've killed the worlds you've torn apart r can think reflect on the war and everything you've seen who started it was it truly me was it truly Dooku or was it inevitable fueled by the greed of corrupt senators and corporations and the apathy of the Jedi the Galaxy was already rotting from within the Sith grand plan as you know it who meant Focus much to his annoyance the frustration is clear as he unleashes a furious Counterattack the blows are fueled by the dark side but it doesn't leave him frowning Palpatine rushes forward forward and slams the butt of his lightsaber against anan's face he snarls in frustration but the chancellor simply shakes his head the Jedi taught you to fear your emotions to bury them that is why they failed you here we will teach you to channel them to wield them as a weapon again Anakin swings his lightsaber against Palpatine but the Elder swordsman leaps back and sidest steps his attack he suddenly thrusts his hand out and Anakin feels several Visions clouding his mind Padme lays on a cold durel floor gasping for breath her voice Echoes faintly pleading for help and pleases save me the vision shifts to scenes of burning Villages children crying and soldiers marching through ruined cities around them the Clone forces battle with droids as their efforts are focused on the war stop it stop it do not ignore it feel the Visions let it flow through you and your blade put everything you have into that strike snarling Anakin prepares to rush forward but holds himself back taking a deep breath he feels the force swirling around him and rushes forward taking his lightsaber in both hands he leaps up in an overhead swing Palpatine raises his lightsaber to block but the force of the blow sends him stumbling back as Anakin's visions is clear he's breathing heavily but also feels good it was as if all the rage he was building up suddenly vanished but a moment later he realizes what he's done and runs over to Palpatine to his surprise the chancellor is laughing and shaking his head well done I was worried you wouldn't get it eventually but his training doesn't stop with just combat Palpatine also teaches him about the Phil philosophies of the gray Jedi using old records provided by Dooku on Darth Revan and the Jedi to show him the ways of going to the middle ground meanwhile Dooku is also making his moves trying to gather like-minded individuals he finds a few like Bara Sophi who was also in prison with him and uses the force to reach out to others like Ahsoka and Ventress who might be swayed to their side but as this happens the Clone Wars begin to wind down even without Palpatine's meddling the CIS is already on the verge of defeat and can no longer seriously threaten the Republic while they had hoped the Jedi might see reason and accept their path Palpatine now believes the Jedi must be declawed to prevent them from posing a threat with the CIS on the verge of defeat he floats the idea of demilitarizing including the Jedi in favor of Clone Commanders this puts the order in a difficult position as they do not wish the war to end and they cannot reject this offer without looking like Hypocrites for their roles as peacekeepers however many Jedi vehemently refuse protesting this decision and demanding that the chancellor also vacate his emergency Powers if they are to demilitarize this creates a standoff between the two eventually the chancellor relents and allows them to keep their military positions until the CIS is fully abated while Palpatine gives an image of defeat he secretly enjoys this as the Jedi play right into his hands Palpatine knows that he must be able to distract them to prevent them from turning against him entirely this is where Dooku reaches out to Ahsoka on Mandalore you are torn I can see that your honor makes it difficult to accept but the truth is plain the order has failed we need to show the Galaxy that they too are complicit in the chaos that has reigned I understand but you want me to let him go to release Maul knowing what he's cap of you need not do it yourself you don't need to take the blame I know but my conscience will know it I will not pretend like this is not a difficult position but it is necessary the Jedi particularly those who are too rigid in their thinking will be the ones to chase after him they will waste their resources they will be distracted and expose their corruption in the eyes of the Galaxy to to lead a war is complex and many understand the difficulty the Jedi have gone through but this should be within their means if they cannot do that then the order is truly lost they need Maul to be removed as the last hold out of the Sith his death can ensure the chancellor will only need to focus on the Jedi and taking him out can solidify his regime's hold Ahsoka stands in silence struggling with the duality of her feelings she had been a part of the Jedi Order for so long but now she sees their flaws more clearly than ever the council's inability to act with true compassion and their inability to consider the cost of their methods and you think Ma will be enough to expose them no it's not about Maul ahoka in truth he is of little importance without his criminal Empire he is alone and his allies will abandon him but he can show the Galaxy that the Jedi no longer hold the answers that there is something new you know this you feel it too all right I'll do it soon after Ahsoka returns to corusant with grim news as she reports that muls managed to escape during Transportation he stole a shuttle and disappeared into the outer rim Palpatine order several Jedi strike teams to hunt him down including mace Wu aen colar plun Kit Fisto and luminara unel they are deployed across various Outer Rim planets to investigate in search for him each one is given their respective Legions to investigate but on the planets they visit they find citizens who are frightened and distrustful of the Jedi especially when they arrive with their armies on the planet of andon Mace and his team land to find the locals turning their backs on the Jedi locking themselves in their homes the few that do speak to them are scared shaking their heads as they are more concerned with getting them out of there rather than leave some Jedi take this as signs to Garrison these planets with their troops to continue their search this further inflames tensions as the people see it more as an occupation than a Manhunt these people have suffered for too long the war has broken them and now they distrust those who should be their protectors we are here to help there is no reason for them to fear us even on planets where Maul and his new supporters attack they are still fearful of cooperation as they believe collaborating with the Jedi will only make things worse this styes their efforts at every turn leading the Jedi to grow more and more frustrated although some like Master PLO and Fisto suggest changing tactics others like mace and aen colar stick to their guns and the situation grows worse as the Jedi struggle to get their message across the distrust only intensifies the war has made the people of the outer rim bitter and they have seen too many Jedi wielding the force like a weapon and too many battles fought on their worlds the Jedi now scattered and on edge struggle to put down Maul knowing that his Escape has cost them valuable time meanwhile Palpatine moves to consolidate his control he decides to send a new task force of handpicked Fighters Anakin Ventress Ahsoka Baris and quinland Voss are among this task force known as the gray order instead of coming with their armies the gray order comes in small groups or as individuals they arrive on planets and show respect while listening to The People's pleas before asking for their help they help deal with Outlaws rebuild homes and heal the injured on these planets they also take their complaints to the chancellor who ensures that their problems are dealt with instead of seeing an invading Army in generals the people see peacekeepers and eagerly offer what Aid and information they can even if they have no data and spread good word about the gry order's actions they act like true peacekeepers and soon its effect show itself the gray order can track down Maul and his lieutenants one by one these groups slowly begin getting wiped out while Maul is slowly pushed back until he is finally cornered in a small Death Watch Outpost the success of the gray order causes them to grow many Jedi become more disillusioned with their organization and rush to join their side meanwhile others like plun ccine and kitfisto remain Jedi but they begin to develop friendly ties with them acting as allies others like Mace Windu remain hostile though and insist a joint team take part so Anakin Ahsoka and quinland Voss represent the gray order while mace kiad Mundi Obi-Wan and luminara represent the Jedi the Strike Team storms the asteroid base explosions ripping through the doors as the Jedi and grey order operatives rushed through they quickly cut their way through the few Mandalorian Defenders and hired Thugs who remained by now these criminals are demoralized and exhausted putting up little fight as they head straight for the Bridge Maul stands at the center observing the battle Beyond but turns to face them starting to smile I see you've come here to destroy me the new and old order alike I must say I'm honored but the only thing you shall find here is chaos and death enough games Maul this ends here surrender now or we'll destroy you destroy me you've already dest destroyed yourselves the rot in your precious Jedi Order is deeper than you realize this is simply its last gasp your Replacements are here already like your so-called chosen one tell me young one how has my master treated you Anakin what is this Sith Lord talking about oh you don't know the master master I once served now recruited Skywalker the Sith Lord Palpatine Skywalker what do you know of this Palpatine is no Sith Lord he's trying to fix the Republic to make it stronger to protect him to keep this information from us you've betrayed everything the Jedi stand for the Jedi have betrayed everything they stood for they did so when they stopped being peacekeepers and started being generals maybe the Jedi don't deserve to stand anymore they failed the Galaxy ma listen to yourself you're proving him right spoken like a true Sith dog may the Force have mercy you are all lost the only Sith is the one standing before us no if you've turned your back on the order then you're no better than a Sith the tension finally snaps with a roar mace lunges at Anakin their lightsabers clashing with a blinding flash of light the battle erupts as the two groups Rush at each other Anakin meets mace's aggression with equal Fury their saber is flashing Anakin is careful not to get Reckless and expose himself or fuel Ma's VAP pad technique instead he relies on raw power as he parries a heavy strike and shoves mace back with a force push that sends the Jedi Master skidding across the stone floor kiot Mundi and luminara unai move to support mace but quinland Voss intercepts them alongside Ahsoka kiot Mundi finds himself facing against the Wy gry oder master who leaps up from the walls jumping over him and using his Superior agility meanwhile ahsoka's twin lightsabers strike Like a Hurricane her strikes unorthodox and unpredictable forcing luminara to rely on his vast experience to counter her ferocity meanwhile Obi-Wan isn't aable to bring himself to attack his former comrades instead he rushes to Maul their blades clashing with crackling energy the two old enemy is moving with lethal Precision you're a fool to think you can control this Kenobi you'll die here just like everyone else who stood in my way you always think you're in control Maul that's why you always lose mace and Anakin's duel reaches a fever pitch their strikes shaking the very ground as they exchange Force pushes and sabber blocks you've Fallen too far Skywalker you're nothing but a tool for Palpatine the words send a flash of anger flickering across Anakin but he takes a deep breath reaching for his anger and channeling it he then rushes forward and slashes upward with enough Force to send mace stumbling back nearby Ahsoka and quinland are giving the Masters a run for their money because of their unconventional style the two stick close to each other supporting each other while preventing kiot Mundi and luminara from joining forces although the Masters are more experienced in conventional lightsaber combat they tap into the gray Jedi training letting instincts and emotions carry them they remember their frustration with this pair whether it's luminara's kalus demeanor or kot's inflexibility the two movements start to speed up putting the Masters on the defensive suddenly Ahsoka crosses her lightsabers and crouches low sweeping her feet from underneath her she pounces on the Jedi before she can get up and keeps her trapped she tries to sh Ahsoka back with the force but she leaps aside meanwhile quinlin's lightsaber moves at the strangest angles making it impossible to block until at last one lightsaber stroke sends kiot Mundy's lightsaber flying from his hand desperately he tries to stop the lightsaber with the force catching it but is unable to see Ahsoka coming from behind and stabbing his back the Jedi's eyes widen as luminara screams and rushes towards Ahsoka aiming a cut at her head quinland pushes her aside and swings his lights saer in a clean Arc decapitating her Obi-Wan seeing the chaos around him continues to advance on Maul he switches from his aggressive style to a defensive maneuver that aims to Halt Maul's vicious saber strikes his staff makes it nearly impossible to defend against all these attacks as they grow unpredictable but as he goes for an overhand swing Obi-Wan catches it and twists it back but Maul's body shifts and he swipes at Obi-Wan twisting the blade and striking his cheek Maul smirks and Spins his Sav staff leaping up and stabbing down at him Obi-Wan barely rolls aside and kicks his back the Sith Lord stumbles but glares at him the dark energies gather around him but he's forced back as Ahsoka and quinland leap Into The Fray their lightsaber strikes in a frenzy as they make a coordinated Rush at him snarling Maul twists his lightsaber and tries to defend against him but leaves him vulnerable as Obi-Wan rushes forward and with a single move slices through Maul's Hilt and runs him through the chest but he doesn't celebrate for long as he sees Anakin and mace locked in combat Anakin is driven by the raw emotion and Ma's desperation and righteous Fury Obi-Wan hesitates a private war going through his head as he considers his options he searches deep within himself for answers looking to the forest for guidance before taking a deep breath a moment later he realizes his choice and rushes forward mace is throwing an overhead thrust aiming down at Anakin's head but he suddenly screams in pain as Obi-Wan slices him across his back whirling he turns to see Obi-Wan there Anakin takes the opportunity to Barrel forward and shove him back mace stumbles down and Anakin stands over him he doesn't give him a chance to recover as he plunges his lightsaber forward the official story told after this this battle is that the Jedi Masters all perished against Maul and this became proof that the Jedi are truly a relic of the past with mace dead the Jedi fall into chaos as many either join the gray order or at least adjust their methods to be closer to them this allows Yoda and the other Jedi to exist but now in a more subservient role with this order established Dooku is made the first grandmas with Anakin as his Apprentice now without the Sith in CIS Palpatine can continue his plans of starting to modernize the Republic Anakin continues his training as a gray Jedi becoming the poster child for the order and traveling across the Galaxy helping different worlds
