The night [music] is dark and full of theories. [music] >> [music] >> What if Tywin Lannister found out about Jon Snow? Let's explore the depths of it in the video. If this video gets 4,000 likes, we'll release part two. Tywin stands near the deis in the great sept of Bor, proudly looking at Cersei and Robert as his goldenhaired daughter marries the black-haired king. When the vows are pronounced, [music] Tywin lets out a long satisfied breath. Finally, his bloodline was on the throne. One thing catches his eye. Ned Stark watching the proceedings with a small bundle in his arms. Tywin had seen [music] him carrying the child around the Red Keep as if he didn't want to let the baby out of his sight. If Tywin were a man to smile, he would have. So Ned Stark was just as much of a hypocrite as everyone else. However, when he returns to the rock, Tywin finds himself unable to forget Ned Stark holding that child. He didn't have a woman with him when he left and he came back from Dawn with a child. Though perhaps he's a Charadedane's son, but the timing doesn't make sense. Also, Ashardane supposedly had a stillborn daughter and not twins. He seemed so protective, like the child was precious to him. The more Tywin chews on the strangeness of this puzzle, the more he finds himself obsessed with it. Often he sits in his office stewing over the puzzle. Ned Stark wouldn't do something like that, especially not during the war. Besides, even if he did, the timeline and locations didn't make sense. That boy and his mother were significant to Ned Stark, enough to leave his honor at the door and offend his new wife. If he could find leverage on Ned Stark, then he could exploit that, even if the North didn't have mineral resources. If a war were to break out, having an army of Northmen on his side might be something to consider. Finally, if only to stop fixating on the unsolved mystery, Tywin starts attempting to find the answer to the puzzle. However, to Tywin's irritation, despite his network of informants, he's unable to find any information about Ned having a mistress within the time frame he'd calculated. Tywin's frustration starts to mount when, after several years of searching, Ned Stark's mistress remains a ghost. Where is she? Why is she so special? Something doesn't make sense. He doesn't have a child with him when he was here in the capital. Then when he went to Dawn to rescue his sister, he came back with a child. He didn't. Tywin grabs his quill and starts penning a letter. Of course, he's been focused on the wrong Stark. Ned Stark wouldn't sire a bastard, but his sister's child. Now, that is something he would do a great deal to protect, especially if the child was Rhaegar's. But was he legitimate? If he was, then Tywin might have to either kill him or turn him on his own purposes. Now, this was a prize unlike anything he could have imagined. With that, Tywin shifts his search to find any documentation of Lyanna and Rhaegar's marriage, the possible paths they might have taken. Slowly, he begins compiling the pieces until he has everything he needs. >> So, he is the legitimate son of Rhaegar and Lyanna. But what to do about him? Kill him or make him my tool? Both options had merits, but after considering having someone of Rhaegar's talents as a warrior and politician as a sworn sword had a great deal of merit. Killing him would likely spark a conflict, even if he revealed who the boy was, there was that piss of possibility that Robert would side with his old friend. Finally, Tywin decides that having a pet dragon was more useful than a dead one. Now that the course was determined, Tywin personally drafts a letter to Eddard Stark. When Ned receives a letter requesting that he meet Tywin in an unpopulated area north of Mo Kalin. Immediately Ned wants to refuse the request, but then he reaches the end of the letter. Your boy is of great interest to me. I see a great deal of potential in someone with his lineage. Oh no, he knows about John. >> Ned runs his hand over his face, horror dawning over him. This was the worst case scenario. He'd kept him hiding not just from Robert but Tywin as well, especially after the sack of King's Landing. If the old lion knew, then he had Ned backed in a corner. Reluctantly, Ned pens a letter and sends it to Tywin. A cold wind swirls around Ned as he watches Tywin ride toward him with a group of retainers behind him. He brought his own guards, but Ned had to admit that he was worried about the hulking monster of a man who stood beside Tywin. Finally, the Lord of Casterly Rock pulls up his horse in front of Ned. His expressionless face gave him the appearance of a statue. Lord Stark, thank you for accepting my invitation to meet Lord Tywin. Shall we speak privately? Tywin nods and rides off out of earshot to one of the old barrerows with a pair of rocks set aside. Both Tywin and Ned sit down in front of an old tomb, eyes not flinching away from each other's gaze. For a moment, the old lion and the quiet wolf stare at each other silently until Ned breaks the silence. So, what did you want to talk about? If you'd like to discuss my son, Rob, I prefer to train him for rule myself. Nothing of the sort, Lord Stark. Quite the reverse. I'd like to take the boys, my ward. Ned stares at Tywin, trying to come to grips with the words that he's just heard. The image of the dead Targaryens rising in his mind. And now, the man who'd ordered that atrocity wanted Lyanna's boy to come south. No, that will not happen. I'm not letting him anywhere near you. Not after what you did to Ellia and the children. Lord Stark, if those children were allowed to live, war would have been inevitable. However, I see this boy is having great destiny. A dragon with wolf's blood is a combination that has potential. Why should I let him be warded with you? He's my sister's son, the last piece of her that I have. Because I dislike mediocrity, Lord Stark. If he's allowed to languish here in the north, where you don't push him to reach the heights such a lad is capable of, then a potential force of change in the seven kingdoms would be wasted. I want him to be a normal child, spend time with his brother, meet a girl, fall in love, learn at his own pace. The only thing that would be different about what I have planned for him is learning at his own pace. I want him to rise to the heights of excellence reached by the greatest of his forebears, another Aegon, the Conqueror. Aman the dragon knight, Don the rogue prince, Don Blackfire, Daron the young dragon. All of them were great men and his could be etched among them in the histories. Why would you want this for him? Truthfully, I'd like to have such a lad in my service and perhaps ensure the future of my house by making sure he's a part of it. So, is that it? You want to use him? Your daughter is already queen. She already has a son and a daughter. Your line is secure. Well, my granddaughter needs a good match. And if I can make him into another Dragon Knight, or better yet, Damon Blackfire, then perhaps the king could be convinced to legitimize him and make him into a Stark. Surely the boy would appreciate a chance to show his quality, become more than just a bastard and wed princess. Ned digs his fingernails into his palms, face set in an expression of grim displeasure. Tywin takes a long deep breath through his nose. He'd have to try a different tactic. >> Do I have to try the stick rather than the carrot? Lord Stark. We both know the unspoken dynamic at play here. >> Despite himself, Ned deflates. Tywin was right. He did have all the power in this situation. He could simply reveal Jon and then Robert would demand his life or there would be the Targaryen loyalists who would try using the boy. Either way, he had to choose. Fine. But Lord Tywin, I want your word that no harm will come to him. If anything happens to John, I will come down on you and destroy you. Glad that you've decided to see Rein, Lord Stark. Do not worry. I would sooner destroy a stained glass window than a child with his potential. So, shall we let bygones be bygones and be at least somewhat aligned? Think of it as a way of cementing a new era for both our houses, I suppose. But Jon's secret must be kept even from him. Why? He should know what his legacy is. What he stands to carry forward. He has a legacy. The legacy of House Stark. Lord Stark. While your house is ancient, what great deeds has House Stark done by comparison to House Targaryen? What legacy have your forebears built? We have a long-standing reputation for honor and loyalty. The best army in the seven kingdoms, and we have lasted for centuries with no breaking continuity. Unlike House Lannister, Tyrone, Baratheon, Tully, or even Aaron, we've lasted since the age of heroes, and have even built a lasting peace and a relationship of trust with our Benaman. All things you can't buy with gold or even force with fear. Tywin's face twists with anger at the veiled insult. How dare the wolf judge the lion, especially when he offered something the other houses would sell their souls for? However, he forces himself to calm down and simply offers his hand. So, shall I make the arrangements? I'd like him to be at least 8 years old before I send him south, and I'd like him to come back after 3 years. All right, but after a year in Winterfell, I'd like him to return to Casterly Rock to continue his education. It's imperative that I have time to make him into the man I see him becoming. Very well. Is there anything else that boy lacks that I can provide? I'm not sure I understand. I imagine that unless your wife is singularly kind or you've told her about who Jon is, she isn't terribly happy to have the product of your supposed infidelity around. >> Ned shakes his head, which causes Tywin to nod in satisfaction. There was something beyond just skills that he could be offered. I know that my sister Jenna is a jovial and affectionate woman who would be happy to provide that sense of acceptance and nurture to the lad. Would that assuage any possible misgivings you might have? Ned had to admit that having someone to actually be a mother to Jon did appeal to him, though perhaps he should tell her. No, it was bad enough that Tywin knew. But maybe if he were out of sight, then Cat might not be cold to him. And if he were to enter Tywin's service, then he would have a future. Fine. We're aligned. But I don't want him to become like Jaime. I want him to be a good man. A man who can look back on his life and be proud. There is no such thing as good or evil, Lord Stark. There is only power and legacy and those too weak to reach out and take it. With that, Ned stands up and walks back to his men. When he returns to Winterfell, Catelyn is amazed that Tywin Lannister of all people would accept Jon as award. However, she insists that Ned allow this, mainly because she wants Jon to be out of her sight. The insistence to get Jon to leave makes him even more certain that this is the correct choice. Once Tywin gets to the twins, he has Walder Frey send a message to King's Landing asking for Jaime to come to the rock. As soon as Jaime arrives, Tywin has his son and his sister sent to his office. There is a matter of the utmost importance that I need to discuss with both of you. >> What do you need, big brother? >> I've come into the possession of information that will solidify the future of our house for generations to come. Rhaegar and Lyanna Stark had a son and that son is being raised by Ned Stark as his own bastard son. >> Jaime and Jenna both stare at Tywin. Then Jaime stands up and prepares to leave. Where are you going? I won't let you hurt that child like you did his siblings. Father, if you peace Jamie, I'm not going to hurt him. In fact, I intend to have him as my ward. I want him to rise to a level of excellence to match any of the great names of his family. and if possible legitimize him and wet him to Marcella. So if any of Cersei's children become well unfit to rule like my own father, then we will have a contingency in place. >> So why are you telling us this? What parts do we have in this? >> I want the boy to feel like he's one of us or at the very least that he's welcome here in the rock. Catelyn Tully is less than motherly to the lad. So, Jenna, if you would be as welcoming to him as possible, it would go a long way to making him feel at home here. >> All right, I can do that. I can play the loving auntie. >> Jamie, I need you to push the lad to become another Damon Blackfire rather than his father. I want a prince who the realm can rally behind, not a dreamer who threw everything away on a whim. To that end, I need to integrate the boy with our family to make him feel like he's one of us. I also need you to push him to become a good administrator and a capable warrior. That way he can be a capable hand to Joffrey. >> Jaime takes a deep breath and nods. Satisfied, Tywin leans back in his chair. Currently, the pieces were coming together. All that he needed now was the boy. Finally, that day comes and Jon is to leave for the rock. And the two saddest to see him leave are Arya and Rob. Gently, he muses his baby sister's hair as she clings to his leg. Jon tries to comfort his little sister, but she pleads with him to stay until Catelyn pulls her away. Before Jon leaves, Ned gives him a gift. A small silver pin of a wolf head with ruby eyes with a sword passed through the head. When Jon looks up at his father, Ned puts his hand on the lad's shoulder. John, I always remember who you are. You may not have my name, but you have my blood. You're a Stark in your heart, lad. Please don't forget who your family is. >> Thank you, father. I won't let you down. >> You could never let me down, John. You're You're my boy, and you always will be. Impulsively, Jon flings his arms around his father. Ned holds Jon close, not wanting to let him go. After a moment, Jon releases Ned and walks to the horses. After a long journey, Jon and his guards arrive at the rock, where he's met by Lord Tywin, Jenna, and Jaime. As soon as he sees Tywin, he's instantly in awe of the old lion. If he had known this wasn't Robert Baratheon, he would have assumed Tywin was a king from how he carried himself. Respectfully, Jon dismounts and bows toward the Lord of Castelli Rock. >> Welcome to the Rock, Jon Snow. We've been awaiting your arrival with great interest, >> Lord Tywin. I'm honored that you've asked me to come here to be your ward. I'll do what I can to be worthy of your gift. >> Listen to the respect in that boy's voice, Tywin. Come here, lad. Jon gives the plump woman a questioning look until she walks over to him and gives him a warm hug. Surprisingly, Jon hugs her back, awkwardly at first. Then he lets himself sink into the hug. >> You're coming home with us, lad. Don't you worry. We'll take good care of you. >> Jon doesn't know what to think as he's brought into the rock. Lord Tywin might be stern and slightly intimidating, but Jenna treats him like he'd always wanted Catelyn to treat him. and he'd heard so many stories of the legendary Jaime Lannister that he didn't know what to say when the knight kept on asking him questions about the North and his life and interests on the way to Tywin's office. All the while, Tywin watches Jaime and Jenna talk with the boy, carefully cataloging all of his answers. Finally, they enter Tywin's office and sit down. >> So, John, you must be wondering why I've decided to have you as my ward. >> Yes. I never thought I'd be asked for or wanted by anyone other than my family. I'm only a bastard after all. >> You're not going to be treated like that here, John. Think of us as your family. >> Thank you, sir. That is very kind. Honestly, this is all so much. I don't know what to think right now. >> You've not gotten much in the way of affection, have you, John? It's all right. You can tell me. And you can call me Aunt Jenner. >> Tywin clears his throat, trying to get the conversation back on track. Gina gives him a scolding look, but Tywin ignores his little sister. I brought you here not just to give you experience in the south with a different level of resources, but also to push you to achieve a level of greatness that you won't be able to reach if you were allowed to languish in obscurity in the north. Jon swallows nervously, then nods after he asks what Tywin wants him to do. The lord of Casterly Rock lays out the regiment he has planned for Jon. Five days out of the week, three hours in the morning with Lance and Sword with Jaime, two hours for leisure and recovery after training, and then three hours studying administration, politics, tactics, and history with Taiwan himself. The remaining two days he will only have to study for 2 hours, and the rest of the time is his to use as he pleases. Initially, Jon stares at Tywin, a little overwhelmed, but then he glances down at the wolf pin on his shoulder. Seeing that firms his resolve. He was his father's son. He had his blood. He would prove himself. He promises to live up to Tywin's expectations. Pleased, Tywin rounds the table and places a hand on Jon's shoulder approvingly. The next couple of weeks are the hardest Jon has ever experienced. It becomes a blur of training and information. However, Jon doesn't complain. He just pushes himself harder and harder until at the end of the fifth day, Jon collapses on the ground at the end of one of his training sessions. Jaime immediately tosses his sword aside and rushes to Jon. When Tywin initially hears, he's disappointed until Jaime, Jenna, and the maester explain that Jon had simply pushed himself too hard on his own. Cautious, Tywin sits down next to Jon as the boy tries to sit up. >> Don't get up, boy. Why did you push yourself so hard in the art? >> I don't want to disappoint you, Lord Tywin. I don't want to get sent back to my father and Lady Catelyn in shame. >> I'm impressed at your dedication, John, but I want you to be a sword, not a piece of scrap iron. If you go with the pace Jaime has set for you, then you will be able to meet my expectations. Take the next few hours for yourself. I'll see you later in the evening. Jenna, take the lad into Lannisport for the afternoon. After his day out in Lannisport, Jon joins Tywin in the library. Tywin expects the boy not to apply himself after a long longer day of leisure, but instead Jon listens avidly to everything he hears and recites back the information he's told. And then after Tywin leaves for an hour to take care of an urgent matter, he finds Jon still studying with several books in front of him that had not been part of the curriculum. >> What are you doing, John? >> Sorry, Lord Tywin. I was just comparing the account to the dance of dragons. I'm not very far in. I just wanted to get to the bottom of what happened. >> On your own. You are very diligent. >> Like I told you, I want to stay here. If I don't work hard, you'll send me away. >> At that point, Tywin knows he has the boy right where he wants him. Despite how difficult he'd demand it for Jon, the boy wants the life he has here, and Tywin can leverage that. Casually, he sits down next to Jon. >> All right, Jon, what have you found from the three accounts of the dance? >> Three years come and go with Jon slowly becoming what Tywin wishes him to be, a capable fighter, a sharp administrator, and a pragmatic judge. One person that Tywin keeps away from Jon is Tyrion, believing his dwarf son will corrupt the boy. And really, Tyrion doesn't want to spend time with his father's pet project. Finally, Jon is given the chance to return to Winterfell for a year before resuming his wardship. >> Don't lose your edge while you're in the north. Jon, >> I won't, Lord Zwin. I promise I won't let you down. >> You've shown me your quality, John. When you return, I'll tell you what my aim is for you. >> Jon smiles and offers his hand to Tywin, who shakes it. Before he leaves, the boy gives Jaime and Jenna a hug. When the older Lannister lady releases him, Jon reaches up and gives her a beautiful kiss on the cheek, then runs to his horse and rides north with a small retinue. >> He's a good boy, Tarwin. Do you really need to do what you plan? >> That boy has the potential to be a hand of the king as successful as Bor Brickspear. Perhaps even a king of Joffrey becomes unfit. So, as he weds Marcela, then the future of our house will be secure. Either way, we win. Jamie, return to the capital and examine the temperature of Joffrey and Marcela. I want to see what role we should be preparing our young dragon for when he returns from the rock. If Marcela is suitable, bring her to the rock so she can meet Jon. Couch it in terms of having her see her heritage. >> Tywin, he's just a boy. Prepare him. Yes. But shouldn't we be patient? >> Patience is what caused our father to become the laughing lion? John is far too valuable to waste on such as fate as that. I've put far too much effort into the boy for that >> sentiment. Tywin, >> he's a valuable asset. I want him to become someone who can etch his name into the histories. When Jaime arrives in King's Landing, he's disappointed in Joffrey by comparison to Jon. [music] The prince is moderately talented with a sword, but he's rather cruel, enjoying hurting small animals. Even though he's still young, Jaime can see traces of Aries in his son. By contrast, Marcela is sweet and kind, [music] more similar to Queen Raela. When Jon arrives in the north, Arya runs out to meet him along with Rob. At first, Ned is apprehensive to see what kind of boy Jon has turned into under Tywin's tutelage, but he seems like he's simply more confident in himself. When Rob and Jon spar, the dark-haired boy often disarms his brother. But whenever he does, he teaches Rob the trick. Now that he's back, Catelyn finds herself resenting Jon even more, especially since he seems to be eclipsing her son. Despite not having Tywins breathing down his neck, Jon still maintains his regimen of two hours of hard training in the yard. Then three [music] in the Winterfell Library, though he'll often spend it with Arya and Rob. >> What has Tywin Lannister been teaching him? What is all this about, Ned? He behaves more like a southern lord than even someone like my brother. I felt my tongue about this while he was gone, but now that he's back and Rob and Arya seem to follow his lead, I need to know how you arranged for Lord Tywin to take him on and give him this level of education. Ned watches Jon and Rob in the yard. The Tully boy watching as Jon demonstrates a particularly complicated series of moves with the sword. Should he finally tell Cat. It seems as though Tywin was fashioning the boy to either be king or a hand to the king. Ned intensely disliked that idea, but Jon seemed to be suited for it. I never told you about Jon because I was scared about you either revealing who he is to Robert or attempting to use him. >> Use him? Why? No, he can't be. >> Yes, he's not my son. He's Rhaegar, our Targaryen son. I was just trying to protect him. Tarwin somehow put the pieces together and asked for him to be brought south. He wants to use the boy as a tool to secure his family legacy. But against all my worries, being in the south has been good for him. >> So, he's not going to be in danger of overthrowing Rob. >> No, he won't. Tarwin wants him in the south since he views the north as a backwater where someone with Jon's potential would be wasted. If you want me to secure the succession, I'll send documents out to my Benaman to sign. It will secure Rob as Lord of Winterfell. Catelyn lets out a sigh of relief and gives Ned a hug. After that point, Jon notices the Lady Stark doesn't seem as cold toward him. Not as warm as Jenna, but not frightening either. She even seems to approve as Rob and Jon start following the same regiment together. Rob even asked, asking for Ned to tutor him like how Tywin had tutored Jon. When the year is close to done, Jaime returns to the rock to report his findings to his father. Tywin looks up as his son enters his office and steeples his fingers. >> What of our assets? I don't think he wants Joffrey to be king. >> Why? Because he has traits of Aries. That sister of yours has ruined him. You'd think Robert would at least try, but the drunken oaf is clearly as lazy and raising his air as Cersei is incompetent. And what of Marcela? Well, if Joffrey is Aries, Marcela is more like Queen Reela, if that comforts you. Excellent. That narrows down our possibilities. Jon must be groomed for assuming that I am thrown with Marcela as his queen. Is this just petty vengeance on Aries by marrying his grandchild to yours? Tywin glares at his son, causing Jaime to flinch. However, despite his father's baleful expression, Jaime meets Tywin's gaze. Eventually, Tywin shrugs and starts writing a letter as a sign of dismissal. After a year, Jon departs back to the rock. When the young lad arrives, he's surprised to find a blonde girl waiting next to Tywin and Jenna. Respectfully, Jon dismounts and kneels, offering his hand toward the princess. >> Princess Marcella, it's an honor to meet you. >> My grandfather and my uncle have been telling me a great deal [music] about you, Jon Snow, as has my aunt. I'm interested to get to know you, if only to see if what they say was true. They make you out to be another Damon Blackfire. >> Oh, I don't think I'll be leading any rebellions against my brother, Princess. He's going to be Lord of Winterfell, and I'll probably join your grandfather's service. >> John, why don't you escort Marcela around Lannisport with me? She's never been here before, and I imagine she'd appreciate a gallant protector like you to keep her company. Jon accepts the invitation and spends the rest of the day showing the princess around Lannisport. During the excursion, he treats Marcela with every possible courtesy. Tywin, Jenna, and Jaime had taught him. And as he does, he finds that the girl has a number of admirable qualities. She seems genuinely interested in the small folk she interacts with. Also, she is intelligent enough to actually engage with Jon despite being a couple of years younger than him. Finally, the day ends and the trio returns to the rock. As he prepares to sleep, Jon finds himself thinking about the princess. Could a bastard like him marry someone like that? Could that be what Lord Tywin sees for him? Is that why he's done all this? Over the next year, Marcela herself grows to like Jon. He might be a bastard, but he treats her like a friend, unlike many members of the court, let alone Joffrey. While Jon is out in the yard, Marcella walks into Tywin's office to talk with her grandfather. >> Grandfather? It doesn't seem fair that Jon is a bastard. Do you think we could legitimize him? I'd actually like to marry him. >> So, you like him that much? Good. I had hoped you would. He's a very promising boy, and you need a match worthy of you. Do not worry. If you want John, I shall ensure that you have him. >> Now that Tywin is sure that the two seem to like each other, he has them spend time studying the books with him as well as together. With two people to talk about the problem together, both children are able to help each other to see the new perspectives. One day, something happens that Tywin did not intend. Jon runs into Tyrion when the dwarf returns from drinking in the city. Lord Siri, I'm sorry we haven't been formally introduced. Oh, so you know my name, bastard. Well, I suppose that you would know all about the family embarrassment. Don't you have something better to do than talk with the imp of Casterly Rock? Have I offended you, Lord Tyrion? If so, I'm sorry. I would beg your pardon. >> Oh, you've never done anything. That's the problem. You just come in and my father treats you better than either me or my brother. Almost like he wants you to be his heir. It doesn't matter. He's always trying to put me out of sight, out of mind. Now leave me alone so I can go sober up. Jon frowns as Tyrion walks away, confused as to what the dwarf could possibly mean. After stewing on it, Jon decides to get to the bottom of it. After questioning Jaime as to Tyrion's character, Jon finds the dwarf in one of the lower levels. When the knock comes, Tyrion yells at him to go away, but Jon keeps banging on the door. Cursing, Tyrion opens the door to see Jon looking down at him. >> What do you want, bastard? I think that we've gotten off badly, Lord Tyrion. I brought something for you. What could you possibly have that I want? >> For answer, Jon holds up a flag of red wine. Tyrion's eyes immediately rise and he snatches out of the boy's hand and motions him into the room. >> All right, you have till I run out of this wine before I tell you to go back to whatever you and my father do. Why do you dislike me? Because you're a bastard from the north who was brought down here and treated like a visiting prince. Next question. Does he treat you so badly? Oh, so my father has been showing you his somewhat benevolent side. Well, let me tell you something, bastard. Underneath whatever facade he's been putting on for you, he's cruel, vindictive, spiteful, and he'll punish you if you get out of line. Ask him about the reigns in Tarbex or the Targaryen children sometime. Once you've outlived your usefulness, he'll discard you like yesterday's slop. Poor Tywin. Really? He's always treated you well. Played the benevolent lord. Made you feel like you were special. I don't know why he's done all this for you, but he did the same to my brother Jaime, then discarded him as useless when he joined the king's guard. As revenge for all the slights he'd seen done to himself, he killed Elliot and her children. When I married a girl who turned out to be a [ __ ] Jaime had paid to love me, he gave her to his guards to let me know exactly what he thought of his son marrying a commoner. And he's always treated me like filth. That's the sort of man he really is. Jon's mind reels. Could it be true? Tywin, the man who had been as close to a king as Jon had ever seen, had done all that. But as Tyrion keeps on drinking, Jon finds that he doesn't have a counterargument. Why haven't you left? Because I have nowhere else to go. The only other place I might stay is King's Landing. [music] And then I would have to deal with my stupid hateful sister. At least here I can hide in the depths of Castelli Rock and drink myself into oblivion. But aren't you his heir? Since Jaime's in the King's Guard, he should treat you somewhat well. Tyrion sprays wine over Jon's face as he starts howling with laughter. Before the wine can spill, Jon catches the flag in and puts it on the floor as Tyrion starts pounding the his chair. [laughter] My father wouldn't treat me like his heir if all our family took the black or went to the silent sisters. He hates me and he will never see me as anything but this spiteful little creature who took his wife from him. Jon looks down at his palms carefully considering all that Tyrion had said. After a minute of silence, Jon stands up and walks over to the dwarf. To Tyrion's shock, Jon puts his arm around him. Nobody besides Jaime and Jenna had ever done that. Awkwardly, he pats Jon on the shoulder. Tyrion, what if I could give you a place away from Lord Tywin? A place where you can be valued. I You would actually do that. Why? Because my father would do that. And no matter what, Ned Stark will always be my father. With that, Tyrion decides that his future with this boy is better than anything his father would ever give him. The dwarf extends his hand toward the bastard of Winterfell so that they can clasp arms. When Tyrion and Jon start spending time together, Tywin is immediately resolved to try splitting the two apart. But after Jenna remarks that Tyrion is most like his father, the old lion decides not to press the issue. He's also forced to admit that Tyrion isn't a bad influence since Jon's studies don't suffer as a result of spending time with the dwarf. Also, Marcella likes her uncle as well, so he's forced to simply grit his teeth and bear it. The years pass and Jon grows closer with Tyrion and Marcella, including learning to play the harp at Tywin's suggestion. It's awkward at first, but once he's good at it, he starts playing for Marcella when they're out in the gardens. Finally, the day comes when Jon is to return to Winterfell. Before he leaves, Tywin summons the boy to his office. The old lion has a long bundle on his desk, a serious expression on his face. Casually, he motions Jon to unwrap the bundle. >> Jon, your education's at an end. You've achieved my expectations for you, and so I feel you should have something to remember your time at the rock. >> Carefully, Jon unwraps the bundle, revealing a sword with a black wolf head pommel on it. Two more snarling wolves forming the crossuard, rubies forming the eyes. Thank you, Lord Twin. You've earned it, John. I gave my son a blade when he was knited. And though you follow the old gods, I decided that you should have a sword worthy of you. You honor me, Lord Tarin. I do have a question for you before I leave. Very well. What do you wish to know? >> Well, two things actually. One is I'd like to take Tyrion back with me to Winterfell. I think he'd do fairly well up there. I know he's been something of a thorn to you, so I'd like to do you a service by taking him with me. An interesting request. Very well. Tyrion may depart with you. And the other? Why me and not Rob? He's the heir. He'll be the Lord of Winterfell after my father. I'm just a bastard. And yet, you've brought me in, taught me everything a lord should know. You even introduced me to your granddaughter in the process. Even though someone like me couldn't possibly marry someone like her, you've demonstrated good logic with your question. So, I will answer your question candidly. However, I would advise you not to tell your father that I've revealed my reason to you. [music] >> Tywin knew that Ned didn't wish Jon to know the secret of his parentage. However, he wanted to have Jon in his pocket. So, as the boy looks at him with an eager expression, he pulls out a pair of papers he'd been keeping in his office for the past two years. These two papers reveal exactly why I wanted you to come and be my ward. Tell me, what do you see? One is a report from a peasant of my father leaving a town in Dorne with a child, and the other is a record of marriage between Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. >> Now, put that information together, John, >> for a moment. Jon can't say anything. He just stares down at the papers in front of him. It couldn't be. He was just a bastard. But everything the Tywin had ever done now made sense to him. He wanted a pet dragon for his own ends. Why? If I'm Prince Rhaegar's son, why didn't you kill me like the other Targaryen children? You heard about that. I see. It's very simple. I needed to prove my loyalty to Robert, and they were the cost. He would have done it himself, but I made sure the blood was on my hands rather than his so that he would bring me into the fold. So, what do you wish of me, Lord Tin? My grandson Joffrey has displayed traits that I deem to be rather, shall we say, disquing to me? I mean to have you legitimized, wed to my granddaughter, and either serve as the hand of the king with my backing, or prince consort, or king if Joffrey should meet with an accident. That is my price for your education, Jon. That you ensure the legacy of my dynasty for centuries to come through your actions. Jon carefully controls his fear and simply grips the hilt of his new sword more tightly. Now he sees the man Tyrion said he would. Tywin wasn't this great lion. He was a cold, calculating man who would hurt anyone in his way. [music] However, Jon couldn't forget how Jenna had treated him like her own son. How Jaime had trained him. The look in Marcela's eyes when she looked at him. Swallowing, he nods and offers his hand to Tywin. For all you've done for me and plan to do for me, I will ensure the future of House Lannister just as I would for House Stark. Then we are aligned. Good. I'm pleased that we see eye to eye. Now go. You have a few goodbyes to say before you depart. When Jon departs with Tyrion, Marcela also leaves for King's Landing with Jaime. When she arrives, Tommen starts pestering her for all the details of her time at the Rock. Cersei listens to her daughter's tales, but one thing stands out to her. >> Who is Jon Snow? You seem rather taken with this bastard boy. >> He was very kind to me, mother. I like him quite a bit. He treats me like a princess. >> All boys are kind to pretty princesses. He probably just thinks about marrying you for your position. >> Don't talk about Jon like that. He's a good person, and grandfather wouldn't want to legitimize him so we could get married if he didn't approve. That causes Cersei to go silent and start considering. Why would her father care about a motherless boy from the north? Why would he throw his prized granddaughter at Ned Stark's bastard even if the boy were legitimized? It didn't make any sense. Another person to overhear this conversation is various. The spider carefully considers the options then decides that he needs to investigate Jon Snow more carefully. When confronted about it by Cersei, Jim Jaime simply shrugs and tells her that Jon was the only one of Ned Stark's children who he'd allowed to come south. Cersei is dissatisfied about this and writes a letter to her father demanding an answer as to why he would foster a bastard and even make illusions about Jon marrying her daughter. When Tywin receives the letter, he groans and rubs his eyes. Carefully, he pens a letter telling Cersei that he [music] was simply interested in fostering relations with the Starks and that Jon Snow promises a vassel down the road. When Cersei receives Tywin's letter, she crumples it in her fist, determined to find out whatever secret her father and brother were hiding from her. While Cersei flounders, trying to shake answers from Tywin and Jaime, Varys proceeds with a more calculated approach. There were too many irregularities, and he did not like irregularities, especially not when his plan required setting Stark and Lannister against each other. Tywin fostering Lord Stark bastard son and even making plans to marry him to his granddaughter was mad. Why would he do that? A slow smile crosses Varys's face. >> Oh, Lord Tywin, that is clever. Rhaegar and Lyanna's child. True or false, it would be a daring move. But now that I know, I can use this. With this information, he sails to Dorne to meet with the Red Viper. When the spider arrives, Oberin meets with the spy master in an inn on the sedier side of Sunspear. Once the Red Viper and the Spider are sure they're safe, Ferris begins laying out his findings. As he does, Oberin slowly grows angrier and angrier. >> So, Tywin Lannister means to further spit on my sister's grave by marrying a false Targaryen to his granddaughter, and no less the fabricated son of Rhaegar and a northern [ __ ] he ran off with. Indeed, I didn't want to bring this to our good King Robert, as he would likely not believe a humble spider's accusations of his loyal friend Eddard Stark. However, I think that there is a way that you can expose the old lion's schemes and finally get your revenge on him. I'm listening. Lord Stannis and Lord Aaron have been investigating a matter related to King Robert's illegitimate children. Perhaps you should sail to the capital or Dragonstone and [music] have a long chat with them. Very well. I'll sail with the tide. Jon rides into Winterfell to be greeted by his family, Rob and Arya, Bran [music] and Rickon. Though Sansa is only somewhat cordial, Catelyn even gives him a brief cordial hug. Slowly, Jon turns toward Ned, feeling several conflicting emotions. This man had lied to him his whole life, told him he was a bastard, but he'd taken him in as his own son. He'd protected Jon by tainting his own honor. Smiling, Jon gives his father a hug. >> You've gotten stronger, lad. Sorry. I've missed you, father. Let's go inside. There's a meal waiting for you. Can I speak with you alone, father? It's rather important. After the meal, John, I promise. Jon feels slightly disappointed, but then Arya leaps onto his back and demands him to give her a piggyback ride. [music] Chuckling, Jon carries his little sister to the great hall of Winterfell. Once inside, Jon formerly introduces them to Tyrion and tells them all about his latest stay at Casterly Rock. Sansa actually takes notice of the two of them possibly being betrothed, likening it to Damon Blackfire and the Princess Daenerys. Arya just rolls her eyes and jokes around with Tyrion. [music] The dwarf himself seems extremely at ease with the Starks, suggesting with Arya, talking about history with Rob, and even a bit of talk with Bran. Once the feast is done, Jon and Ned enter his solar and sit down. So, what did you want to talk about? What exactly happened with my real father and mother? Oh, God's damn Tywin Lannister to Seven Hells. He told me he wouldn't say anything. I'm glad he told me, father. It showed me the contrast between the two of you. Go on. Tywin Lannister would rather abuse his son than tarnish his own image. You tarnished your image to protect me. I'm glad that you're my father, but I want to know the full story. I imagine you told Lady Stark, correct? That's correct. Before I tell you, what do you intend to do with this information? Do you want to press your claim? I want to be of use to my family. I want to use my skills to better the north and perhaps the realm itself if I have the opportunity. I know Lord Tywin plans to legitimize me and marry me to Myella. Though whether he wants me to be king after Robert dies or merely hand to whatever king he wishes to appoint, that remains to be seen. All right, it's a long story. Jon listens avidly as Ned explains everything about Rhaegar and Lyanna. A tower of joy, finding Jon in the tower. When Ned is finished, Jon [music] leans forward and offers his hand. Well, I don't know about all the prophecy nonsense, but I'm glad to hear that both of them wanted me. So, how am I to be used to you? I have a number of skills now, and I'd like to use them. Going forward, I want you to act as my right hand alongside Rob. If you would go around the north with Rob and show them all you've learned from Tywin, that would make things easier. I'll go with you to the mountain clans. But other houses like the umbers, flints, Mormonts. I want you to go along with the young Greyjoy. I did want to ask, did you give me the name John or did my mother want me to be named that? She died before she could give you a name, son. She used her last breath to ask me to promise to protect you. I'm actually fine with that. I'm actually attached to being called Jon. It's my name, and I don't want to give it up. Jon and Ned discuss matters relating to the North, as well as Jon informing Ned of as much as he could find out from his time in the South. One thing that Jon is able to give Ned his knowledge of the crown's debt to Lord Tywin. [music] The staggering sum makes Ned's eyes bulge as he runs his hands over his face. Finally, the two men stand up and Ned pulls his body into a hug. Oberin reaches Dragonstoneone a few days after the news of John Aaron's death reaches the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. Stannis is waiting in the map room, a stern expression softening in surprise as the Red Viper enters. Prince Oberin, I'm surprised to see you here. I recently had a conversation with a certain spider regarding the plots of the Lannisters. He also told me you were investigating something relating to King Robert's bastards with the now deceased hand of the king. All right, I'm listening. First, it seems as though Tywin means to prop up a false Targaryen and marry him off to his granddaughter, Marcela. That's absurd. Tywin killed the Targaryen children. Yes, but this boy Jon Snow was warded in Casali Rock for several years, introduced and possibly betrothed to his granddaughter. That could actually play into what I was investigating. I believe that the Queen's children aren't Roberts. While that might be somewhat of a problem to you northerners, it doesn't mean much to me. I believe that she's been committing incest with her brother. Oberin bursts out laughing. Stannis glares at the Red Viper as the Dornishman holds his sides and continues chuckling. The irony of the old lion sewing the seeds for his own downfall through his vain ambition was one of the most delightful things Oberin had ever heard. Forgive me. I just find the idea of exposing this particular humiliation to the realm to be very amusing. Be that as it may, we likely have a difficult time since Tywin and Edard Stark are aligned at least casually. Yes, but if we were to expose this, King Robert would declare war. But how to make it believable? I'll send out my eyes and ears and discover any possible record of this false Targaryen boy's birth. If we can prove he's a Targaryen, Robert will be frothing at the mouth to kill him. All right, I'll prepare my fleet and discuss matters with my brother Renley. If we can bring up your spears through the marches and combine them with the Stormlands, then we can have an army to face Tywin, though likely we'll need the might of the Reach on our side. Eventually, the king arrives to appoint Ned as his hand of the king. When they arrive, both Cersei and Robert turn their attention to Jon once they've greeted the others. Their [music] interest is peaked when Marcela runs out of the carriage and flings her arms around Jon. >> So, you're the boy Lord Tywin wants to legitimize and marry my daughter of too. If your grace would honor me with such treatment, I would not complain. Well, if Lord Tywin wishes it, and your father wishes it, then it's done. Your John start now. Here's the paper in a small gift. A dagger, Valyrian steel, and dragon bone. Only the best for the man to marry my daughter. Thank you, your grace. I don't know what to say. Both of these are incredible gifts, though my legitimacy and your daughter's hand are even more precious to me than this knife. >> A thank you will suffice. It's far more than you deserve considering your birth. >> Everyone gasps, and Robert gives his wife a glare. Miscella seems about to defend Jon, but he draws himself up and clasps his hands behind his back. Your grace, if you believe I'm not deserving of this honor, then I'd advise asking your lord father as to why he believed me to merit this. >> Well [music] said. Might I have a moment to speak with your son, Lord Stark. I imagine that you and my husband wish to pay your respects. >> As the king and Ned walk away, Jon and Cersei head to the Godswood. As soon as they enter, Cersei gives Jon [music] a piercing glare. >> Who the [ __ ] are you, Jon Snow? And what have you done to earn my daughter? Neither my brother nor my father have adequately explained why a bastard born from the north is treated better than my own son. >> I do not pretend to know the mind of Lord Tywin. I am sorry he hasn't seemed fit to tell you his reasons, but the fault lies with him, not me. I've just tried to be worthy of his attention in training he afforded me. >> Don't try to dissemble with me, bastard. That's all you are. No matter what the bloody paper says, you will tell me what my lord father is planning with you and my daughter. Now >> again, I don't know what Lord Tywin intended of me. He said that he had yet to decide. He did mention of training me to be hand of the king one day to your son. He and Lady Jenner had been good to me, but their reasons for elevating me are theirs and not shared with me. >> Fine, I'll find out why on my own, and when I do, there will be consequences. With that, the queen stalks off, leaving Jon alone. Slowly, Jon lets out a sigh, then [music] takes a deep breath. Everything Tyrion had said about Cersei was right. He'd seen the glint of madness in her eyes, [music] the venom in her voice. She might be a danger. Cersei's fury starts mounting as Jon is brought to sit next to Marcella on the Deis along with the rest of the Stark children and Tyrion. Fury turns to wrath when Jon and her brother start talking as old friends. In a rage, she storms out of the great hall and locks the door. Robert just laughs and raises a toast to Jon and his daughter. During the dance following the feast, Jon dances with Sansa, Arya, and Marcela. Arya tolerates it while Sansa laughs the whole time in delight at having a partner who's able to keep up with her. However, Jon enjoys lifting Marcella in the air and twirling the girl through the crowd. When the festivities wind down, Jon takes Jaime aside to spar outside. Ghost looks up at them before patting over to Jon, then [music] allows Jaime to pet him. He's a magnificent animal, Jon. Thank you. But I'd like to ask you about something. Did you know? Ah, so you found out. My father did tell me. So why did you obtain me? If I'm the grandson of the man you killed, surely you'd be adverse to helping me. Not to me. You're the son of Rhaegar Targaryen, the man whose family I failed to protect. I killed the mad king because he told me to kill my own father and had plans to burn the city to the ground with everyone in it. When I first found out, I told my father that I wouldn't allow any harm to come to you. And I mean to keep that vow. I always knew you were a good man deep down. Jaime, will you be my ally when I go south to the capital with my father? Of course, John. And thank you for how you treat my niece. She's a good girl and she likes you as much as you like her. Cersei watches the two men sparring out in the yard. She clenches her fists and decides to punish Jaime by denying him herself to him for the eternity of their stay. The next day, when [music] Rob and Joffrey spar in the yard with Rob managing to give as good or better, the prince quickly suggests live steel, Sir Rodri refuses, but Jon speaks up. Surely the prince can defeat my brother with a Tony blade as well as a real one. Just because a blade is sharp doesn't mean it's better. >> Watch your tongue, bastard. Even if you're to marry my sister, you're still to show me respect. Besides, turny swords are for children. >> Well, what about a bet? You get live steel and I get a turny sword. The stakes are my sword against yours. >> John is master of arms. >> Sir Rodri, indulge me. I have every confidence that the crown prince won't harm me as I'm to be his good brother. And if I only have a turn sword, he's in no danger. Though Sir Rodri seems hesitant, he lets Joffrey grab a live sword while Jon accepts Rob's turny sword. Marcela and Arya watch the boys start circling each other. Silently, Marcela wills Jon to beat her brother. Without warning, Jon attacks, the blade moving like lightning. Joffrey tries to parry, but Jon has been sparring with Jaime for years at this point. After a rapid exchange, Jon strikes Joffrey's sword near the hilt, then flicks it up out of the prince's hand. For a moment, the sword spins in the air, and Jon grabs it out of the air and bows. Is this your sword? Give the prince a hand. He fought well. >> Casually examines the sword, then tosses it to Joffrey before gesturing to the crowd as they clap. Joffrey just glares at Jon in confused anger as he catches the sword. Once Joffrey sheets to the weapon, Jon walks up to the other boy and offers his hand. We need not be enemies, Prince Joffrey. Our fathers will be working side by side. Can we not develop a partnership of our own, especially since we're to be brothers? Joffrey spits on Jon's profiter hand and walks away, bristling with fury. Gingerly, Jon wipes the spit from his gloved hand, then walks over to Rob and Marcela. Soon, the royal party departs with Bran, Arya, and Jon riding with the king's party. The trip passes with minimal interruptions till they arrive in King's Landing. When they do, Jon accompanies Ned to his first small council meeting. Jon carefully observes Peter Beish and Varys specifically since he doesn't see Randall as that much of a danger. When it gets finished and the announcement of the hands turn to celebrate his betroal to Marcella and Ned's appointment to [music] hand, Jon sees an opportunity. When the turn arrives, Tywin himself along with Jenna and a large number of troops arrive to celebrate the announcement and con congratulate John and Marcela. On the third day, a mystery knight wearing black armor on a midnight horse enters the lists and rides up to the king's pavilion. >> All right, sir. What do you call yourself? The knight of Cinders, your grace. All right, get out there and smash some heads. >> The knight bows his head toward the king, then offers his lance toward Marcela. [music] Recognizing the knight from how he sits his horse, Marcela places a garland of the night's lance. Throughout the day, the knight proceeds to one horse night after night. And with each victory, Robert and Sir Barristan start watching him more carefully. >> I feel like I've seen that night before, a long time ago. I know what you mean, your grace. Unmask that mystery knight, Sir Barristan. I want to know who he is. Finally, after the night of Cinders has unhored most of the s the king's guard and several other knights, he and Sir Barristan ride into the lists for the final tilt. At that moment, Robert flashes back to the fateful moment of the turnney at Harrenhal, the moment before all the smiles died. For a moment, he wants to stop the turn and demand the mystery knight unmask himself, but he knows Sir Barristan. The two knights charge toward each other, each breaking a lance. Sir Barristan rides [music] around back to his spot and retrieves his lance, while the the knight of Cinders does the same. On the next pass, Sir Barristan manages to break his lance on the Mystery Knight's chest as he misjudges the strike. Robert grunts in disappointment as the Mystery Knight keeps his saddle. However, at this point, Barristan [music] had the lead. The only way that this Knight of Cinders could win was to unhorse Barristan or to break his lance on the opponent's helmet without being struck himself. The crowd starts to cheer as the two knights, one in black armor, the other in white, charge toward each other. Sir Barristan holds steady, then shifts at almost the last second, aiming his lance at his enemy's chest. However, the Knight of Cinders moves just out of the way, then smashes his lance into Sir Barristan's helm. The commoners are silent for a moment, then erupts and cheers, unable to contain himself. Robert stands up and roars, "Get your [ __ ] dragon spawn ass over here. >> Your Grace, >> pull that bloody helmet off now. I want to know who you are." Casually, the knight raises his visor, revealing himself as Jon Stark. Everyone gasps. Bran, Arya, and Myrrcella stand up and cheer. Rob stares at the lad, blinking in amazement. Then he starts to laugh. You had me going there. I thought you were Rhaegar Targaryen back from the dead or even his beggar brother. Well, I was wondering why Lord Tywin approved you, but any man who can knock Sarristan off his horse is someone he'd want to keep the bloodline strong. Indeed, I believe that as a tournament champion, he has the right to declare the queen of love and beauty. Right you are, Lord Tarwin. All right, lad. Who's the lucky girl? There can only be one girl who I would choose your grace. They now unmasked Knight accepts the crown of golden roses and places it on Princess Marcela's head, causing the crowd to erupt in cheers. Jon takes a moment to bask in the agilation of the crowd. He's done it. He'd writed the wrong his father had done. Everything would be well. Stop this mama's fast immediately. All eyes turn to see the Lord of Dragonstone and the Red Viper enter the tournament area with a large group of soldiers at their back, face set and scowl. Stannis points at Jon. sees that boy. Him and Lord Tywin are both traitors. Immediately, Tywin motions to the mountain and other Lannister men to get between Jon and Stannis. Robert and Ned stand up while Jaime rides up beside Jon. >> Explain yourself, Stannis. >> That boy is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Lord Tywin has been grooming [music] him to usurp your crown and marry his granddaughter. >> Why would he need to do that? >> Because Marcella is not your daughter. She's a bastard born of incest between Cersei and Jaime. All of them are. Marcela gasps and glances at her mother. The queen simply glares at Stannis as he produces several documents and starts passing them through the crowd. Soon mutters fill the stands, the mood changing from celebratory to confused and concerned. Robert turns toward Ned, silently demanding an answer, unable to lie to his friend. Ned nods. With a roar, Robert turns on Cersei and smashes his fist into her face with such force it slams into the post, her skull cracking. Without warning, the king rises from his seat and charges toward Jon, drawing his sword. Before the king can get to the to the boy, Jaime rushes between them and stabs Robert through the chest. Chaos erupts in the stands as the Stormlanders and Dornish rush toward the royal pavilion. The Hound gets in front of the royal children, though Joffrey attempts to run. With a scream, the prince falls to the ground. a Dornish spear through his back. Marcela and Tommen are both screaming in fear. Ned pulls Bran and Arya away right before Jon dismounts and offers his horse to his father. [music] Ned gives Jon a questioning look, then pulls Bran and Arya into the saddle and rides away. Trailed by Nimriia and Summer, Jon has no time to think [music] before Stannis attacks him. The balding soldier's sword glances off Jon's armor a few times before the boy can draw his sword and engage the older man. Suddenly, Renley attacks from the side, forcing Jon to retreat. Facing faced with both Baratheon brothers, Jon tries to defend [music] himself. But having two skilled opponents is barely more than he can handle. Bellowing like a wild ox, the mountain rushes forward into the mass of foes, slashing and hacking with his giant greatsword. Oberin's spear lances toward his mortal foe, yelling his mantra to [music] get the mountain off balance. After a few exchanges, Oberin's poisoned spear enters Greor's visor and nicks his cheek. Immediately, the giant falls, clutching at his face. More Stormlanders and Dornish rush into the lists. Even as more Lannister men and the city watch charge into the chaos, a group of Dornish swarm the hound, distracting him long enough for a pair of Stormlanders to try and seize Marcela and Tommen. Silently, Ghost leaps at the first Dornishman and tears his arm off, then rips out the throat of the next man trying to get to the princess and her brother. With an uncharacteristic roar of fury, Tywin draws his sword and engages the Stormlanders trying to seize his grandchildren alongside Ghost. Jon can hear Marcelus screaming out to him, but Stannis and Renley together are keeping him occupied. Right as he thinks he's about to be overwhelmed, Jaime rushes forward, intercepting Renley's sword and dueling [music] the younger Baratheon brother. Together, the lion and the wolf duel the iron stag and the lord of storm's end. Jon even manages to slash Stannis across the cheek with the dragon bone dagger when the they lock swords. The taller man grunts and [music] backs away, hand going to the bleeding gash under his eye. They're still outmatched in terms of numbers, which forces Jaime to make a decision. >> John, get them out of here, please. I can't leave you. Get my children out, John. Get them back to the rock. >> Jon nods and rushes to Tywin, cutting down a pair of Stormlanders and grabbing Marcela by the hands as the Hound picks up Tommen and rushes away to a free horse. Satisfied that his and Cersei's children are safe, Jaime throws himself at Renley and Stannis. Unable to stop the onslaught, Jaime cuts down Renley right before Loris Tyrell engages with the king's lair. With the two opponents against him, Jaime is pushed back. Then the Red Viper attacks. Jaime falls to the ground. Oberin's spear cuts across his thigh right before Stannis's blade takes off [music] Jaime<unk>'s head. Shaking with fury, Stannis glares around only to find that Jon, Tywin, and the King Slayer's children have escaped. Angrily, he grinds his teeth and walks toward the capital. Once inside, Stannis walks to the Iron Throne [music] and takes his seat in the monstrous chair. Blood still flowing down his cheek from where Jon had cut him. Prince Oberin, I would name you Hand of the King. Do you accept? I would be honored your grace. Good. Send word to all our allies, the Tyrells, the Stormlands, and Dawn.
